Re: please wait 5 minutes so you can log off for 2 hours

The OP does have a point. Why have a respawn timer at all, what does it achieve? Most of the times I just want to log off.

I end up alt-tabbing while the timer runs out.

As someone else mentioned also having the penalties apply instantly would also work (and removed if you are raised).

Re: Leveling Speed Discussion

It is bad. RP suffers because most people will do their writs first and then focus on RP. I know I do this. 3 writs can take almost 2 hours to do, which can be your whole session at times. Writs exp more or less scales with levels, this means that it doesn't take that much longer to attain a new lev...

Re: APR too high for rp

Entirely agree, on both leveling speed and end-game numbers. Could we at some point start looking or thinking of ways to decrease the ceiling of damage numbers? I know this is a big balancing endeavour but I feel like over the years the damage numbers have been getting higher and higher. This is an ...

Re: Player Portal Privacy Problem

I recognize there's no fault with the Admins on this, and probably no easy solution. It's just sad. I've also logged on the wrong account before. It sucks. Maybe dissaportal should be automatically active for a period of time after you log in? That way you can avoid people spying your account name ...

Re: Player Portal Privacy Problem

It's honestly not much of a problem at all. The only problem I see is that it can lead to an unfair advantage in getting a shop/quarter, which is what I was trying to highlight. The data you can get from the portal is simply CharacterName+AccountName+CurrentTimestamp. That's it. It's not a big deal...

Re: The State of PvP

I feel the same way most people here. I feel like PvP or tense situations should be enjoyable, and many are. But nowadays I am also wary of giving the other side any advantage, because too often I have had that come to bite me back. I also personally feel like there are very few consequences for peo...

That character can probably be recovered, unless you deleted it yourself.

Re: Radiant Heart Ring is Ridiculously Powerful

I dont care about the ring mecahnically. I think it's the best option for the item slot but it does not enable any broken builds you couldnt do otherwise. Having 'space' for 1 more ac or 1 more con or 3 more discipline over everybody else is not game breaking. What I really like is that the ring sh...

Re: Shadow Displacement

If you can't imagine how a reposition would help you in PvE or PvP, you should probably reserve your opinion. Off the top of my head, LoS break seems pretty pivotal. If you are going to tell people to refrain from posting their minds, at least explain your own, this is nothing. Shadow Displacement ...

Re: Shadow Displacement

As I said, the build I posted is just an example because Shadowy Reality said it was not possible to make a heavy-SD build that doesn't have PvP potential . I did, yes. And as others have said, they may have PvP potential but it is not because you are a heavy SD. What is the Shadowdancer used for? ...

Re: Fey and Imp models/sizes

Changing a race's model is relatively straightforward on the dev side, cosmetic considerations notwithstanding. Even slight movement speed increases have a considerable impact in PvP at high-end play. It either needs to be fixed, or the races balanced with it in mind. Being a reward race does not e...

Re: Fey and Imp models/sizes

I am not a fan of changing models. The current models are fine. A small elf with butterfly wings is not the same, and I think would look silly. Same for imps. It would be a downgrade for both I feel, and probably requires a lot of dev work. I am all for capping their speed like other races, but don'...

Re: Shadow Displacement

I do not see how this invalidates Hips balancing. From what I understood Hips was not balanced because it allowed Shadowdancers to escape easily, but rather because it did everything. It allowed Shadowdancers to escape, and to get easy flurries against flat-footed opponents. As it is right now Shado...

Re: How does standard rogue fare against shadowdancer?

The cookie cutter rogue is actually pretty good at PvP. Heavy shadowdancer builds tend not to be.

It will still do fine in PvE but you really need someone to guard you or make heavy use of darkness wands.

Re: Parry AC Bonus

NMan is right. The only missing detail is that, since all weapons are usable on Arelith despite your character proficiency feats, you will be able to receive the bonus as long as the weapon requires martial or exotic proficiency. It is really the weapon that matters here and not the character. But!...

Skal Demonologist Lair

This is a fairly early level writ and it seems to be behind a locked door.

I had no luck bashing it, and I don't have any open lock ranks. Doesn't seem very healthy to gatekeep an early level writ behind a skill that most classes do not have.

Re: Surface Races in Anundor

I should preface this by saying that I am by no means against the existence of surface races, or even surfacers in Andunor. I think the Underdark would be worse and much more stale. With that said, I get what some people are saying and where they are coming from. A long time ago I played a drow and ...

Re: What if these two skills were reworked?

I reckon there is a generic issue across the board in nwn with small dips that allow access to the power of a class without having to invest in too many levels of the class. I don't want to sound snide - but this isn't a generic issue with NWN. This is literally in almost every iteration of Dungeon...

Re: HIPS Nerf

Heavy Shadowdancer builds don't need Hips to level, they don't even need stealth, they solo almost everything due to the shadow. Heavy rangers get Hips for free in wilderness areas, they never really needed this, they would still be a totally solid class without that. You don't go 16 ranger got Hips...

At the risk of derailing this even further, I entirely agree with Ork. I also thought writs were the best thing ever, and they were, but only for a bit. Being able to very quickly get out of those early levels is great. The thing is that the progression doesn't really slow all that much, you can con...

Hey so I'm playing with Farlius when he's in the Shadow Plane. Seems like your arguments are coming from the notion that he's dying to these mobs, he's not. We all know a great part of the artifact chests can be soloed by mages. You just get hasted and invisible, run through the whole dungeon and kill the boss with Dragon Knight and a couple of spells, it is not time consuming, it is not particularly hard. Mages do this best as they have access to both ...
