Re: Why is PvE so easy?

elemental maelstrom.... yeah. there's your answer. spellsword makes everything easy try a mundane instead, you'll find a much different experience. I bring up Elemental Maelstrom because mundanes just have it too in the form of Whirlwind. More importantly, I literally cannot try a mundane for this ...

Re: Why is PvE so easy?

This is an open-ended question with an idea veiled behind the original post of adding more PVE content. Was that a way to get people to click on the title? I don't mean offense by asking, but it seems you lead into My feedback is that PvE is too easy. On a general level. I'm mainly talking about th...

Why is PvE so easy?

I was browsing the development discord and someone mentioned that PvE is too easy. I also feel this way too. PvE has a reverse difficulty curve like XCOM games. The beginning levels are a struggle where you have to heal, group, tolerate the '1 APR dance' for awhile but then you quickly get stronger ...

Re: Problematic Reactions to Antagonists

I'm going to pull the 'veterancy' card and say I've played off and on since 2008. If we're talking about PvP where there was a lead-up that led into a fight, the only time I have not seen one line kill bashing is mass PvP raids. In fact I think mass PvP raids are really fun because there is no delib...

Re: Problematic Reactions to Antagonists

You have clearly never been present to observe the Street Fights and Brawls of Andunor in the Sharps District. No I haven't, what's your point? That to make an irrational statement on such a broad scale as you just did, you should probably invest more of your time to actually experience all the typ...

Re: Problematic Reactions to Antagonists

If you want IC proof, just watch a player-hosted PvP tournament. It is a clear disadvantage to RP in PvP. And you will see basically none of it, and entirely mechanical skill. You have clearly never been present to observe the Street Fights and Brawls of Andunor in the Sharps District. No I haven't...

Re: Problematic Reactions to Antagonists

My two cents on various things in this topic are this: The statement that people aren't their characters is a fallacy that is used to justify toxic behavior. Often times when this is said, it is said with the preamble of "Because the other person ignored my RP" which implies that you are connected e...

Katana into a 18-20 threat range

I figure here's my chance to take a shot, as it were. I've been wracking my brain about making a eastern themed character that uses the katana instead of the nodachi and I've heard only a few cases. +It can work with parry +Small races can use it like a nodachi currently In the future though, Monkey...

Sassone Leaf Residue doesn't do anything

Hi! I tried out the poison 'Sassone Leaf Residue' and it does not appear to do its initial effect 6+4d12 acid damage or anything for that matter. Description of Bug Experienced: I noticed that after I struck an orc who failed the poison save, I did not see any data inferring damage happened. Steps t...

Re: Rest Limit - Is 50% too low?

As for the use of alcohol... While I do find the fact, that Arelith is filled to the brim with drunked mages, to be hilarious, I do realize it might not be to everyones liking. I'd love to see some alternative way to manage your rest, since it is pretty much necessary if you want to adventure often...

Re: Rethinking Conflict

This would certainly require dev and DM effort, but I think dev and DM-lead conflicts could really be effective in bringing interesting conflict RP to Arelith. It could even allow other PCs to help out the DM-lead faction, and maybe shift things temporarily, while knowing they'd eventually lose. Ma...

Re: Enchanted Shield, LOL

There's a bunch of things that irk me about this topic, particularly the "not encouraging RP" aspect. If you do not want to go through the process of having a shield made, then go grind dungeons and just buy one from a store. At a minimum, there are 2 active shops that have Enchanted Shields. Indire...

Re: Lenses change

I have a suggestion even though that's not the point of this that I thought of just a few hours ago. The shovel item forces an emote when you "dig". I wonder if this is possible to implement on the lense? Yes, people will still teleport nearly immediately but at the very least it'll be possible to s...

Re: Assorted Paladin and Spellsword questions

Against my better judgment, I actually found the Paladin dip to be interesting. Is 16 CHA a requirement for something? Like as opposed to 14 CHA anyway. I can definitely see maximizing stats to be a real pain. Although with that said, if I think of CHA as basically the lowest priority for the build ...

Re: Assorted Paladin and Spellsword questions

Thanks Astral! I have a follow-up question then. Is a Divine Spellsword plausible? The original concept was just a straight up Paladin of Savras so she gained her powers through devotion, and a degree of martial skill. Not intense magical study and experimentation. Normally I'd say that just solidif...

Assorted Paladin and Spellsword questions

Hello! I wanted to make a new character on Arelith but have been having trouble deciding on a class. With that said, I have a few questions. I've always wondered about this one. How strict is the Lawful Good requirement (for Paladins) as far as RP goes? As I feel like this could be subjective, I'll ...

Does the UMD requirement for Lesser Moonblade ever increase?

Like when adding an essence to it, or enhancing it with runes?

Just would like to know before committing a UMD character toward using one.

-twohand should upgrade the Bastard Sword's size to large

This is for the purposes of Disarm/Improved Disarm of course. But also because I feel like there's no reason to ever use -twohand with a Bastard Sword except for flavor reasons or if you have a Shield Bearer to guard you. The same would apply for the Dwarven Waraxe too although the axe arguably has ...

Re: What are some good PDK builds?

I stole this from Astral on the PDK build forums and liked it a lot. 15 Divine Champion/5 Fighter/10 Knight (Protector). It's a Kensai as well although it could just as easily be used without Kensai if you don't want UMD. All around good Knight-type build without Divine Wrath. And It's there for whe...
