Unmerited Sharp's Mansion Access

Description of Bug Experienced: Potential exploit and/or annoyance... I can open the door to the Sharps mansion as well as the door to the arena without key or faction. Steps to reproduce the Bug: Open either door that leads to the mansion - or the door that leads to the arena skybox reserved for t...

Re: Is skal best place for unexp rp'er

Skal is my favorite area. It's small. It's easy to learn. Resources are abundant, so crafting is simpler. The players are concentrated into the one town. Everyone is about the same level - increasing cooperation on writs. To me, the "only in Skal" meme is ONLY something that people say in-character....

Re: Trade-Skills - Are they too set in stone?

Not looking for a reset at all.
Instead, some way in-game to alter your craft points.
The only other choice right now is to make a new character.
Even if it's slow (one point per day), that's much more RP-centric.

Re: Recent Property Sales Update

I now have actual personal experience with the head-aches this new rule causes: I am a member of a fairly large faction - one of the most active on our server. We have a guildhouse that we run from. This is used for storage, but also for RP as we exchange IC messages there, and invite outsiders ther...

Re: Writ Rewards - Need to find the bad ones!

My point is that you don't really even need to ask. You already have the data at your fingertips. I know Arelith already records for each character which writs they have done (so it can reward adventure XP). If there is a trend to do certain writs, but avoid others in the same area, that tells you s...

Re: Writ Rewards - Need to find the bad ones!

Tonight, my party spent six hours off-and-on trying to complete a writ, died several times due to "oops" one-shot-kill traps with DCs too high for us to disarm (even with a rogue in our party). Traps? That's what summons are for. So we pushed and pushed, but finally gave up b/c we couldn't figure ou...

Somewhere to share historical fixture descriptions?

Does Arelith have an out-of-game place to store historical fixture descriptions? Today, I typed (in a text editor) the description on a bunch of existing old well-written fixtures to make sure that if something happened to them, they'd be replaceable. These are NOT my fixtures, but I'd like to give ...

Re: Obsidian Asylum

The point isn't whether the puzzle is too hard or too easy. Sometimes you get lucky on hard things, and sometimes you get stuck on something dumb. When someone gets stuck, "FOIG" should not necessarily mean "go pester somebody". It is more satisfying to find the right book in a library or talk to an...

Dweomercrafting Feedback

This is half feedback, half question, and half suggestion: Three halves makes a whole! There are several options in dweomercrafting that I just don't understand - or seem completely useless. I've tried some of these out thinking they might be useful, only to learn that they have no effect. These all...

I was always in the outskirts looking in, b/c my character had no business with Emily. However, I still got to see some of her antics, and I could tell that she was exciting to be around. This force of magnetism always kept a crowd of players around her. Not only is that more fun for everybody (incl...

Re: Feedback on Runic Materials

There are three different discussions in this thread: 1) Proposed recipe to combine more common rune materials into the rare ones. Yes. Please. Grinding for super rares is dumb. Isn't this an RP server? Perhaps a better suggestion is to remove runic materials entirely. 2) Higher-end DCs. Right now, ...

Re: Award System Remastered - What Would You Prefer?

What behavior do you want to reward? There have been several different opinions and proposals. For each, one, if that's what you want, then measure and reward accordingly. Note that I believe it MUST be measured and automated somehow. Anything else is going to steal valuable DM time -> and miss peop...

Re: Parry BAB Requirement

I too would like to see duelists fighting with only one light weapon. Unfortunately, mechanics drives designs and form follows function. Kudos to all of you (us) who put RP ahead of mechanics. Mechanically, a shield is better than parry AC in almost every way. Yes, depending on your build, it might ...

Re: Zinc Ingots Made Useless ;_;

At one point, deep in the past, didn't the catalysts require lead and zinc and something else? I remember at the time, that was a critical need for those ingots. It also reduced the demand for copper / silver / gold. Also, I instantly approve of anything that reduces demand for coal, coal, and more ...

Re: RP Policy: Quoting real-world works in-character?

Good point in comparison to bard poetry sessions. In some ways, that is similar to what is going on here. A long reading from an outside source - changing a few words here and there to make it fit the context. I understand and don't object when the same happens at bard contests. This is about the sa...

RP Policy: Quoting real-world works in-character?

Twice I have observed another player repeatedly quoting long passages from a real-world work (flipping a few words to reverse the meaning). At least 30 other players saw the same thing, since it was used as the focus at two different player-run events. To me, this is immersion breaking - and does no...

Re: Feedback on the Commoner Class

Commoners are actually really good at adventuring , especially if you have the chops to stick with it until you become the rare Fortunate Commoner and can start taking Specialist levels to pick up things like Open Lock/Disarm Trap, UMD, etc. You aren't going to be going toe-to-toe, but you can cont...

I took a break for a while, so this class is brand new for me. I've reached level 22, and I've enjoyed myself so far. As such, here's various feedback organized by topic. This is going to be long and rambling, but I hope it will be useful to DMs tweaking it or players who are thinking about trying i...

That were-cat killed my whole party of four when we went out on our first expedition. We picked the easiest writ that had the lowest payout b/c two of us had never played before. Re: Rest Limit - Is 50% too low?

Strong agreement here. So... WYSIWYG right? including RP based on the mechanics of the setting? So in this world, casters never sleep unless they have to. Unnecessary sleep is dangerous! It's much better to walk around droopy and take STR and CON penalties. Also, alcohol is both divine and magical a...

Re: Rethinking Conflict

I can see it both ways. As a player, conflict is fun. In contrast, my character does NOT want conflict. Unfortunately, the word is usually used to denote "PVP combat" instead of actual conflict with a back-and-forth. In fact, my view is that Arelith's death-is-meaningless is why so many people resor...

I would like to go back to the rock-paper-scissors point. Right now, monks seems to be best or at least strong contenders against every role.
