The boons are now basically worthless. The change is kind of sad. This is a classic “this is why we can’t have nice things,” moment.

What was a cool niche thing worth figuring out is now functionally worthless.

Hard to figure out when you've no idea it even exists in game as a possibility.

Re: Roleplay on stealing / theft / pickpockets

Like, come on people! It is a roleplay server! Even rogues, thieves and pickpockets deserve better then this IMO... I really hate to see such short, tunnelvision RP because someone stole from you. Uh, it goes both ways. If a thief actually offers me an opportunity to role play, creates some sort of...

Re: Spell-casting, Alignment & IC Reactions

The paladin kit doesn't straight up counter the entirety of a hemomancer's gimmick, so maybe that's why they might be so eager to look the other way. I've only played on Skal recently, so it might not reflect the wider server, but I look the other way because at this point people are so ...

Re: The expected reaction to non-good familiars and warlocks?

The culture/reaction obviously varies across the board, though I'll wager that the people with a well thought out RP justification/excuse for consorting with satan fare better than those who have a blase attitude.

Counting x castings of x to out someone for PVP seems really gamey though.

Re: Need kill scripts back on NPC guards.

TLDR; I think I have a right to feel safe walking from point A to point B without being attacked at random. I should not have to expect it like I do IRL. I disagree and I'm not a big fan of PvP in the slightest. We're in a setting that's set up for endless conflict between opppsing factions, races ...

Dont even get me started on the rp implications of why someone would want to learn some of these languages. Re: About Necromancy and Necromancers.

I'd say the answer is multifaceted, a normal person from Thay or Zhentil Keep would likely react differently to one from Waterdeep or Baldurs Gate, people raised in the shadow of a Banite Church who've been witness to clerics with their Baneguard in tow would likely be more accepting than someone wh...

Re: Recent Property Sales Update

Prestige has just as big a draw as storage space - I've never seen a room in any of the inns sat on for real life years, can't say the same for some of the even slightly larger properties, which is all the more painful when said properties are being completely under utilized, more personnel dollhous...

The most fun I've had with a character was with LN, trying to get by in the world with a very rigid set of principles that I refused to break created a lot of tension and forced me into events and encounters that could otherwise be avoided.

I think focusing on whether or not the analogy is absolutely factually 100% realistic does nothing to understand the point being made. The point being made is, if for whatever reason - sickness, injury, loss of interest, etc - you had to step down and hand off Arelith to someone else - is it fair t...

Re: Recent Property Sales Update

I welcome this change, far too often I've been witness to friends and cliques passing shops/quarters back and fourth, it's apparent enough in-game but you even witness it openly on discord these days, the end result is only ever stagnation of ideas.

Re: Ultimate Skaljard Feedback v2

I'm another one who's all for the reduction in Epic characters and the stifling of RP that their presence can cause. Quite honestly I like that fact that Skal has characters moving out with some regularity, it keeps the place fresh and lends to the fact it's a dying village in the middle of nowhere,...

Re: Pickpocket update

How can you make it fun? Can you give an example or scenario, bonus if its not heavily skewed one way or the other. A honeypot at a bar, swarmed by beggers in a alleyway, a handsy drunk, a mummers show with someone working the crowd. I'd think the list is endless - anything that creates a memorable...

Re: Pickpocket update

That leads back to my initial question, how is a thief suppose to act? Simply, they need to make pick pocketing attempts a fun encounter. If i'm going to be inconvenienced with a loss of items/gold then I should atleast get some fun RP out of it. No one is happy when they get spanked in PvP when it...

Re: Pickpocket update

Imagine if people react properly to pickpockets and didn't kill someone. Not a DM, but if that's your response to being pickpocketed, it seems worthy of an RPR drop (without other reasons why of course) I think peoples reactions on this depend entirely on the pickpockets approach. If they roleplay ...

To quote the OP; The way things are, however, epic PCs will continue to hang out and eventually interfere - whether purposefully or not - with the intended dynamic of Skal. Re: One-way Skal

The most important thing is that the shops and quarters will rotate between newer players more. Allowing them a chance to experiment but also forcing them to give the shops away at some point. This would ensure that the stocks in Skal are always rotating and changing and it would allow higher-level...

Another potential fix would be to block epic level conjurers from being able to summon people to the island, make the only viable way to access Skal be via that rather tedious boat trip. Make it special. If you want to go there with your epic character or your faction, much like raiding, you must request the approval of the DM team via the forums. One only needs to take a trip to the wild west that is Skaljard to see the issues that come from stores having zero oversight, good luck finding an item that isn't a variant on magical item X, player/government oversight is good.

On an OOC level, given the rarity of stores and how hard people cling onto them, owning one should be seen as a massive privelege. At the end of the day you have a responsibility to your fellow players to put them to good use through offering decent/interesting stock or using them as a platform to g...

Re: 2nd new garden in Skaljard and Dunmarle. Indoor gardens!

Sorry to say it, but this sounds very "gamey". Skal could certainly use a secret garden/shrine to Chauntea, but mass producing crops on an icey tundra via this method isn't the way.

It's possibly specific to the trade house? I've lost 2 shops there, one certainly within 48 hours of a refresh. Trader Vic lost his store within 7 days, now Eol. It happens pretty consistently.
