Re: Award cycling races: Giants

IMO, dropping the odd none-english word to suggest a characters heritage/background/nationality isn't an entirely bad thing. E.g. Words for yes, no, hello, goodbye, ect -esp where they're generally fairly well known anyway, just one or two is no huge sweat. But if you're using such parlence heavily,...

Re: DM Reminders and Messages

Two Reminders and Messages today! Strong Language Recently, we’ve noticed an increase in the amount of crude language and swear words being used. In particular we’ve a few times heard rumors of a shadow rule that a certain four-letter word beginning with F is allowed on a ‘once per month’ basis, and...

Re: We need better rewards for grouping for dungeons

I would be devastated if any further measures to destroy soloing and make leveling in dungeons slower would be taken. This is a very personal case, but I am sure a lot people can relate: my gaming time is limited, and I would rather spend an hour quickly running through a few dungeons for whichever...

Re: We need better rewards for grouping for dungeons

A thought: I kinda feel there are two strands being disussed here. 1) Leveling 2) Getting Gold. Now don't get me wrong, I'm absolutly not against the idea of encouraging grouping for levleing - but I don't feel that that's the... issue as much? (Please correct me if I'm wrong!) And I think punishing...

Re: We need better rewards for grouping for dungeons

Yeah but then you run into the Issue of people PvPing you, kill bashing you and now congrats all your scrolls in your scroll case are gone! Hope you didn't have a buncha expensive ones in there. Two things 1) I did say that certain scrolls wouldn't be droppable. (such as the ones already naturally ...

Re: We need better rewards for grouping for dungeons

One interesting change that happened that, I think, disincentivises group travel - and a bonus you didn't mention, is that if you're with a group in a dungeon and your pc dies, then they can be raised and continue. The change comes in here: Back In The Day - you used to get a lot more 'raw gold' (as...

Re: Despair in Hemomancy

I had a hemomancer when they first came out and I remember a conversation about why my dude did not cast a particularly useful spell (might have been withering ray at the time, I cannot remember) again and again during a difficult battle. He said something about it wearied him and required him to e...

Re: Faction leaders need better rule-compliance tools

Can it not be something like a check on the CD-key when a character joins a faction? Like say I make a Fighter and join the Cordor city guard. I get invited to the faction on that character. I then make a Wizard and also try to join the Cordor city guard. When I get the invite for this faction, the...

Re: Death Amnesia Waiving?

Speaking personally I think the above is fine. So long as everyone involved is Ok with it being wavered. and also (ideally) so long as we don't see someone going around saying 'yes XXX KILLED ME! they KILLED ME AND I REMEMBER IT!' - But if all sides consent, then it should be fine.

Re: Settlement Election Integrity

To my knowledge, as said, this has happened twice... maayyybee three (I've a nasty feeling there may have been a third time? But if so this is going back many many many years) in all my time of playing/DMing (15+years of playing, probably nearing a decade of DMing) so that's not a whole lot. I don't...

Re: Settlement Election Integrity

It saddens me to see the disregard of the data provided. Let me reiterate. Up. To. A. Full. Third. Of. Votes. In. Certain. Recent. Elections. Were. Eliminated. Because. There. Was. Little. To. No. Roleplay. From. Those. Voting. Characters. Worth noting is that this is a particularly bad extreme. I ...

Re: Settlement Election Integrity

To be honest 3 months feels like too short for some long term plots etc. to develop. If someone has grandiose plans or their RP has them become a dictator of sorts, it'd be detrimental to it. Then they can set up someone else as a puppet of sorts, and whilst 'become a dictator of sorts' might sound...

Re: Settlement Election Integrity

The team's concern, first and foremost, is character activity. If a character hasn't been actively roleplaying at all leading up to an election, then the character shouldn't vote. If a character is spending more time roleplaying in a settlement which they are not citizen of, then the character shou...

Hello! I'm really glad these are liked. The idea came up a while ago, when it occured that really there was only Derlson who was a known noble in Cordor. I'm glad people like these, and I hope they have fun with them! I hope one day we can also add a bit more module support for them - but that's in ...

Re: Summon Adjustments

He is right, I feel like the DM team is taking wrong approaches when concerns this matter, and then someone finally had to speak about the wolf among sheep's. Uh, small point of clarity. This change had nothing to do with the DM team. The DM team (for the most part?) has little or nothing to do wit...

Where good roleplay and DM rewards can increase the speed (chance?) of getting said awards.

Re: Timer on Roll

I think it's safe to say that the award system missed its mark: incentivizes the creation and high turnover of throwaway characters heavily incentivezes the retention of award characters that pile up over time = populates the server with superficial short-lived speedrunny toons AND slowly but stead...

Re: Timer on Roll

The system in the Old Days was designed to do two things essentially 1) Let people play some special concepts, whilst keeping them rare. 2) Encourage a turnover of very long term characters. Now mark you, this was back in the day when it took the vast majority of characters up to nine months to get ...
