Re: Search

I don’t know how many different ways to tell you that it didn’t matter who was doing the looting before and it still doesn’t.

Whereas before the change, the person with the highest search score are often the looter so that we can maximize our looting potential

It didn’t matter who was doing the looking before.

Re: Search

It never mattered who was doing the looting. It says so in the wiki and the feedback in the game. I’m actually surprised you were always able to figure out who had the highest search but no one knew that. As for the mechanic, it rolls an extra time each time a party member succeeds for more loot. Th...

Re: New pixie model

Fairy lore is both not canon and cannon, no matter where you find it. Make up whatever you want. Use books like that (D&D source books and the like), or use books you found in your Gramdma's library (fairytales, historical stuff, etc.). The best part of Fey lore is that there isn't really anything t...

Re: New pixie model

They have the easiest IC explanation (even if they shouldn’t acknowledge it). It’s fae magic. Stuff’s weird. For example, my fae Briar, is a noble fey who literally takes form of a briar to guard the Queen when she returns to the fae realm. When she needs to move, she takes form of the old pixie or ...

Re: HARBINGER FEEDBACK

For the people thinking about playing a newly released class: There will be major changes, buffs, nerfs, etc. to newly released classes including Harbinger. This should not surprise anyone. It's really strange that people are "dropping characters" as if this wasn't expected. If this is troubling to ...

Re: Award cycling races: Giants

Unfortunately this is not our intent - while a schedule would be nice it would have negative effects on racial representation, roleplay and population density. Players have a tendency to prematurely act upon changes that they know are coming - take the Dweomercraft update, we have seen how players ...

The part about not regretting using it is actually really heartening to hear, Granted I don't know your reasoning. And I'm sorry it was not a draw for you as you had hoped. 1) Half giants are after all, half giants. It's certainly alright to RP around giant concepts but...it gets weird when you start thinking of yourself as actual giant over the course of RP and perhaps even successfully deluded yourself as well. 2) I am not able to speak archaic or old english which ...

Re: New pixie model

Pixies are actually supposed to be small, not tiny. NWN got that wrong.

Pixies are 1‒2.5 ft (30‒76 cm) while halflings are 2′8″‒3′4″ (81‒100 cm)

Given the issues with targeting such a small model (no Oddjob plz), it makes sense to limit the lower end of that range.

I think the tower could use at the very least a facelift, and adding some guildhalls would be a huge step in the right direction. How can that even be in question, a really easy way to tell is from all the empty rooms; are you kidding me?

Yeah, I don't get the "it's all good man" comments either.

Re: The Arcane Tower

This is certainly some revisionist history. I’m pretty sure there were over 100 members at one time (we kept a spreadsheet of members) and allowed everyone in (unless they were blatantly evil). The tower group at that time was probably LN with a slant towards good so it made sense to exclude certain...

Re: The Arcane Tower

Some good suggestions already in the thread. For something simple, just doing something like turning some areas into 3 different guildhalls would be a great first step. 3 guild halls: Each of the two wings could be its own guildhall the warden's hall could be a guild hall as it was previously (and m...

Re: The Arcane Tower

The tower has been in a sad state ever since it changed, to be honest. There have been some good attempts at putting something together but it always seems to eventually fade away. An actual guildhall shouldn't matter that much, but it does. You have a place like Jotunhold, which is designed exactly...

Re: Request for Henchmen Feedback

The other nice thing about henchmen is that it opens design space for casting spells on them which you obviously can’t do with summons.

Also, don’t give them magical weapons. The ones that have a basic weapon are much better (usually)

Re: Request for Henchmen Feedback

The most important thing for henchmen is AC, followed by reasonable damage/HP. Caster henchmen are a waste of time to put in (clerics can be okay-ish). For example, Chaarvik Dayal is just useless. Following that, rogue skills are nice (Eric Dansbury is great; Heckel "Fatty" Pipeweed and Holler "Toes...

Regardless of everything else, it’s not like you should expect to run epic lvl 30 content with a summon you get at 17th level.

Yes, the streams do need some adjustment, but let’s be realistic here.

Re: Feylocks No Longer Have A Damage Spell

Really? Has the class identity of warlock also been a summoner too? Because a majority of warlocks I see are known for having a huge devil/demon out, and how it's effectively immune to word of faith. Many warlocks do not summon. They all do eldrich blast. I'm unsure why this is worded so combatively.

Re: Feylocks No Longer Have A Damage Spell

I'm not debating how a class should be played, I'm talking about class identity and the class identity of warlock in D&D has always been eldrich blast. Class identity then informs mechanics. When playstyle is too far away from class identity, then mechanics get changed as a result. This seems to be ...

Re: Feylocks No Longer Have A Damage Spell

It is possible to just play a blaster, but if that's the solution, why even bother supporting all of these other pacts? Why bother giving warlocks spell replenishment at all if the blast is the only thing that matters? Blast isn't the only thing that matters, but it should be your primary damage ty...

Re: Feylocks No Longer Have A Damage Spell

I played 2 blasters and didn’t max out dex. That’s not necessary. Eldrich doom, is based on Cha, which is where the AOE damage from warlock should be coming from (which is why I assume these aoe got limited). You already have high Cha so it’s a very simple swap if you want a warlock good with AOE. N...
