Storing the Remains of a bashed fixture in an inventory or chest preserves the "Remains" as expected, but as soon as I place it down it vanishes, presumably as if it had expired before someone could repair it. That is to say the Remains had been in storage for quite some time! About a month IRL.
This is unfortunate, as I'd expect storing it to put the expiry on hold until such a time as it could be repaired.
