I was just wondering what feats are required to play a mounted archer. The wiki says:

The Mounted Combat feat adds +1 melee Attack Bonus instead of the normal bonus. Mounted archery remains unmodified.

But I am not noticing any downgrade from using a bow on horseback without the mounted archery feat. My attack bonus does not drop. Is this feat completely obsolete? If this is so, the wiki should be updated.

I would like to add a question to this as well, in that, does the type of horse matter for these bonuses or is that just cosmetic (pack horse vs heavy war horse)?

Did you check the combat dialouge? No idea but some modifiers do not appear on the character sheet.

Yep This was the first thing I checked! I was getting the bonus from mounted combat feat but no penalty from using a bow.

The type of horse can be relevant to speed. I -think- they all have the same HP. But like elves on elven steeds are much much faster than on a pack horse for example.

What purpose do these feats serve? Is this a bug or did the feats get changed not long ago?

As I understand it... when you use a bow while mounted, you suffer a -4 attack penalty. The "Mounted Archery" feat reduces this penalty from -4 to -2.

If there are additional benefits, I am unaware of them.

From what I have heard, the penalty for riding has been removed. Mounted combat adds one, with mounted archery adding another. You actually end up with a bonus to ab on horseback with these feats
