What's so great about the basic magic staff?

I'm not talking about the more powerful ones that come with spells that can be cast X amount of times per day. Just the basic staff that doesn't have any other benefits. Decided to make one and take it to an enchanting basin to see what I could do with it. I didn't notice any great benefit over what can be done with other weapons, but I've noticed a fair number of requests to have them made. Am I missing something or it just the appeal of walking around with a staff?

They can also be enchanted more than other weapons

I always suspected they are slightly easier to enchant but didnt want to bring it up in case it's foig or incorrect. It does makes sense that you can squeeze in more magical power into a magic staff.

The appeal is that you can have the staff out and ready all the time, unlike every other weapon. Also, you can also hold an offhand weapon or shield at the same time, also rare with other weapons.

That gives two more wearable, enchanted items 24x7. Staves are not any more enchantable at the basin than other items, it’s just more RP acceptable to wear them than a greatsword.

The basic, unenchanted staff is all but impossible to find in npc shops, too. That’s why people request it from custom crafters so often.
