What the title says. It's been a while since I've had a character who messes with quarter doors, but I thought that maxing out traps on a quarter was reflected in the rent. That rent is publicly displayed on the quarter's ownership sign (usually outside the quarter itself) which used to help me in figuring out which places had lower security (and thus were safer to attempt to quarterbreak). But today my character got spiked for 230 damage at a quarter whose monthly rent was listed to be 150 gold, so I think I may be misunderstanding the system. Can anyone provide me with insights?

I am pretty sure it adds to it. I had to lower traps on one of my chars when I had a horrible low amount of coin and would not be able to pay the rent.
Re: Traps on quarters not reflected in rent?
I think only you can see your own rent accurately now, to prevent people from gauging how well protected a door is by looking at rent of others.
I might be wrong, but that's just what I assumed.
Re: Traps on quarters not reflected in rent?
That was my first thought, but on that very same excursion I saw a number of quarters in one area that I know have identical interiors (and presumably base rents) and there was some variation in the public-facing rent prices.

the price of the rent is not a good indicator because it is based on the price of the room, a room that's only 10k will have cheap rent even if the trap is upgraded. there's also a trick some people use where they'll degrade the locks to 1 and then max out the traps and it balances the price lower

Considering you might not break the lock and can bail, perhaps leaving some mark for the owner to see hours later! Or....end up a corpse infront of the door! I can imagine many would be detered!

That is something I have noticed! Painfully so!

It was changed precisely because people were using the information in an exploity way to see whether they should try to break in or not.
