Can an Illusionist use the enchantment basin?
Specialty wizard illusionist in NWN gives up enchantment. Can they still use the basin? Yes? No? Maybe?

Further, an illusionist can even take enchantment spell focuses for reduced cost.

Really? Isn't that a little wonky?
I know when someone asked about True Flames taking other spell foci, the answer was that they shouldn't.

If we're going to be technical, "enchanting" is transmutation.

I mean, seeing as a dumb-as-rocks barbarian can use the enchantment basins, no reason why an Illusionist, even with Enchantment as a prohibited school, could not. They're very user-friendly.

Well "Enchanted weapons" for example is just a term. They might as well be Transmutation basins. The Enchantment school in D&D has nothing to do with making magical items, but "enchanted items" is something that spans the genre beyond D&D wizard schools.
I think the word is just French for "Speak/sing into", as "Enchant" is certainly the same word as "Incant", could be synonymous with "Ensorcelled". "Putting words into an item" could sound a lot like a basin of magic, but it could also sound like a crystal ball of divination, and neither of those things have anything to do with D&D Enchantment.

In fact many enhancements avaiable in the basin are actually from Transmutation School. "Incantations" could be a craft line by itself as its not really related to Enchantment School.Elven Seraphim wrote: I think the word is just French for "Speak/sing into", as "Enchant" is certainly the same word as "Incant", could be synonymous with "Ensorcelled".
