Haks and Overrides (Not Required)

Post by jp.ping14 » Mon Nov 03, 2014 1:17 pm

While we are not required to have haks and overrides to play arelith, there might be some of those who would like to improve their gaming experience by having some modifications to their NWN.

What are the haks and overrides that you have been using?
Care to share the files with us?

(Yes, I know, this is a question, but I placed it here so that others could refer to this thread if they feel like adding some of these haks and overrides)

A bump for this since I now also want to download some mods and would be happy if there were a thread that collected them all.

I'll edit this post occasionally (or just heavily today - depends how much time I spend searching for overrides) with updates.

There's soundset & portrait unlocking .2da's - Might not have all, and I'm not sure the original site is alive anymore, hence why it's in dropbox.
They're overrides.

for some of us that are new can we get some kind of clarification from a dm/developer as far as what is allowable to use on arelith?

from googling i read haks are allowable as they dont cause missing hands/heads etc....but overrides would cause problems...

one more question...can many of these haks/overrides be used together? i.e. nwn shader..chicos..amethyst dragon gui..project q?

bit confused

"Hak files: allow additional modifications to the game which are not normally available and all players must posses in order to play.
Override files: override existing/standard features of the game without adding something that doesn't exist. Merely expands on what is there and are local or server specific."

does this mean i can d/l all the overrides i want but could run into trouble w/ haks?

Hak:

A collection of modified or additional content, for NWN. Developers set which hak a module uses using the toolset. A hak can be considered a collection of overrides.

Both the server and client needs the hak file. Or else it will do nothing. Goes into the hak folder.

Haks will not harm or improve your experience on arelith as they won't do anything.

Override:

A file that' modifies content for NWN. Goes into the override folder. An ovverride, with some exceptions, will be used in place of a module's or hakpak's resources

Overrides will work on arelith. It may occasionally be harmful to the experience.

It may only be harmful because it adds(or rarely removes) terrain features, like a tree, snow mounds, and similar.

EvilBrage left me to respawn once because of his stuuuupid Haks. Anyways, that's the only thing I've seen from the environmental changes. They sometimes make it impossible to get to a chest or a fallen companion's corpse.

We don't police overrides.

The only thing we police is that if you have a head model from an override (so you show up headless to everyone without it) you will be asked to change your head.

Brilliant! :)

Well it would be brilliant if I could reinstall. I'll work on this tomorrow.

What folder does the soundset file go into?

Still can't find the terrain modifier. Anyone have that?

If your talking about this, the 1.69 soundset/portrait unlocker, you want to unzip it into the override folder.

Has anyone successfully gotten the alternate combat animations to work on Arelith? I haven't had any luck, and I'm thinking it's because the server uses a custom crafting dialog from the radial.

Is there a way to make these overrides work here or is it a no-go?
