I'd love to play an Erinyes someday. They have a lot of potential for RP given the setting and the heaps of lore the intersect with.

Planewalker

Awakened construct/sentient mech of some sort

Lesser/intermediate demon/devil/slaad that has a 1% chance to be summoned when a planar spell is cast (Gate, Planar Ally/Binding)

I do find there can be quite a gulf of difference between what the 5%s give. Historically we have had things like:

Aasimar,
Tiefling
Genasi (Air/Earth/Fire/Water)

And others like:
Dragon
Rakshasa

Thing is, with the former, they're not terribly far off from a regular PC. While the latter two are /very/ different. I think the server might want to answer just how special the 5%s ought to be.

For myself though, here's what I think I'd like, in order of priority:

Half-Dragon (Any chromatic/metallic color plus prismatic allowed, though within one step of their dragon's alignment)
Aasimar (For a Greater Award),
Tiefling (For a Greater Award)
Arcane Archer (Without half-elf or elf requirement)
Dwarven Defender (Without dwarf requirement)
Half-Celestial
Half-Fiend

#1 for me is removing alignment restrictions so you can play a non-lawful monk, a non-lawful good paladin, etc.

Spellweaver. You regenerate spell slots over time. It's like Regeneration, but with spell slots and at a much slower pace.

Demi-God Levels. Able to advance beyond level 30, at a very, very slow pace with something like every monster only giving you 1-10 experience points, and Adventure experience disabled entirely after level 30.

Artifact Crafting. Able to craft ridiculously overpowered items, with a limit to something like 1 per real life month. Like with the old Artifacts, these ones deteriorate slowly over time, eventually becoming reduced to something that is on par with everything else.

Favored. Become a chosen god's Favored. Once you select a patron deity you become its Favored. You can never change your patron deity, and you don't benefit from attuning to other deities. You can always consecrate altars, no matter what class. You always use piety for high and epic level spells, even as a mage. You gain piety at a much more rapid pace (doubled or tripled). You gain Bless and other buffs and boons upon finishing a rest.

Damned. You've been cursed by the gods or by some powerful extraplanar entity. Healing harms you and negative damage heals you.

Elemental Affinity. All your summons are elementals, replacing the lower level Summon Creature animals with elementals. The Planar Binding summons are unchanged. In addition, you know the 4 elemental streams upon character creation.

Guardian Angel. Prerequisite: Non-evil character. Once per rest you may use the Guardian Angel ability to summon a Deva (or similar) that scales with your level for 24 hours or until dispelled. It might scale with Conjuration Spell Foci, if that isn't too powerful.

Seasoned Adventurer. Instantly gain enough experience points to reach level 15. In addition, gain the feat Luck of Heroes.

These are obviously very, very powerful. But when I think of the 5% roll, I think of the actual true 5% roll. I believe they are too easy to attain as it is
My proposed suggestion is that 5% should be 5% without the ability to raise the chance through wealth. Furthermore, 5% should be reserved to level 30 only with characters that have been active in the game for a set amount of time.

Only the 5% Major Award should be touched by this proposed change. The other rolls should remain the same.

Something like this. I have no idea how it would fit into the DnD lore, probably some sort of fire-elemental-thing.

It would probably be a scripting nightmare though.

Item Inheritance- on successful delete character that results in a major award, before the game finishes deleting your toon, it offers you a chance to select any item in your inventory with a widget that is given on accepting (make it VERY clear that this consumes the award for the character created with it- also offer some kind of confirmation dialogue on the item selection). The item will be saved and transferred to the Awarded character.

Paladin Can Fall - Allows a Paladin character to become a blackguard without losing paladin levels - Divine Grace is REPLACED by Dark Blessing, they will not stack. Smiting stacks(but Smite Evil no longer works). Turn Undead stacks. Lay on Hands stack. Paladin Spells remain (blackguards are supposed to get divine prayers commeasurate with a paladin's), vs. Good instead of Evil where appropriate. Divine Health, Aura of Courage, and Remove Disease are lost. Paladin levels will stack with BG levels for determining fiend's level and sneak dice. (Basically, a real PnP variation of a fallen paladin rather than one deleted and recreated as a fighter/blackguard).

Permission to RP an unusual/exotic race (Without any mechanical benefit other than the ability to change your shape- no stat changes- to reflect the chosen race). This could be from a pre-done list using existing monster/race models for an appearance change. Applicable for things like Rakshasa, Dragons, Mind-flayers, liches, etc. Things that might make for an interesting story but generally give too much of a mechanical advantage to be in regular rotation; instead, you get consent to RP the concept as the actual thing, and an appearance alteration to enable WYSIWYG.

Permanent True Seeing (the creature property, not the spell). Or an item that can cast it unlimited times/day, restricted to the gifted character's race, alignment, and primary class.

Dragonfriend - You and a dragon have pacted to come to each others aid in the pursuit of an overarching common goal. 1/day Summon a dragon whose HD and stats scale with your character level. Metallic/Chromatic type chosen at character creation. Dragon lasts 1 turn, +1 turn/4 levels, max 6 turns. Characters with this gift (and any associates present at the time!) may find themselves likewise summoned randomly to aid their dragon (read as: DM plot-hook).

I'd like to see more races and subraces available to minor, normal, greater and major awards. Or bring back the "backgrounds" idea, boost them a bit and let awards give you a small perk based on that.

I don't really care to play any super-special races ever again but for a 5% I'd much rather be able to be a regular race with a special RP ability not otherwise available. Like being a human bard who can -scry or something.

I'd personally be against adding super strong subraces like mindflayers. I remember the drama over dragons when they were first introduced, and how, despite needing a 5% roll, they were popping up quite frequently. A 5% isn't as rare are you might think.

I've seen character(s) in the past with epic feats on creation. Not sure how I feel about that one, though in all fairness, it was an epic focus: divination if I recall correctly, so not a terribly powerful epic feat.

Some random ideas off the top of my head?
 Minor regeneration: 1 hp per level, with +1 every 5 levels?
I RPed this on Sei, though his regeneration was from heavily enchanted items that were roleplayed as grafts/implants, rather than any sort of base ability. This led to a lot of RP. After all, humans that passively regenerate like a troll or vampire? Thats super rare. This led to some fun side RP with varying tests into the limits of his mortality and/or straight up pain-masocist-level rp (Hey! Wanna see a trick? You! Punch me in the nose as hard as ya can!) This also led to questions as to whether or not he was a "walking crime against nature" and whether or not he needed to be put down by Tua for a little bit.

Mechanically speaking, it was handy, but especially towards higher levels, this was -far- more RP oriented that any sort of mechanical boost, as his HP outpaced his regeneration. I've also noticed the -1 to -10 HP range for "bleeding out" acts really, really screwy with regeneration, and the "bleeding out" mechanic isn't affected that much as a result. This idea would probably need to be tweaked to find that fine line between "not stupidly game breaking" and "totally worth a 5% roll"

 Higher dwemorcrafting tiers
Something I rped on Terry. If you're really, really good at making items, people will come looking for you to make more items for them. Period. How these items are made, or what they represent mechanically is also incredibly flexible, and is a wonderful oppertunity for RP

This is something that is good at any level, but is limited by what resources the craft has available to them. Which, in turn, means that this is more powerful/useful when more people are involved.

 Special crafting tiers
Kind of going off the above, having a few craftable items that are locked behind a 5% tier. Obviously, you'd want to make them difficult to craft, requiring a lot of materials, crafting points dcs. But, having someone that can maybe once an IG year or so craft something like the true moonblades or other item-related suggestions may be plausible? Again, the powerful item side is counterbalanced by how horrendeously long its going to take to get to the point where you can craft the items, and how horrendeously long it takes to throw a ton of crafting points at it (especially since other players can't assist)

Add rest of colors for RDD, grenn, black etc

Fire Giant - but may be a tad too tall, but I have always loved fire giants as a race.

I tried making a werewolf character for a long time but was put off by the fact how mechanically discouraged it was to create one, with an insane will-save DC and almost every feature out there tailored specifically to not work unarmed if polymorphec. If i had ever rolled a 5%, i'd have considered asking for one with slightly more lentient will saves, or less frequent will save rolls.

Every 6 sec check to go berserk does not give much time to RP or emote, unless you make use of the -blindfold command to cast blindness/deafness on self, aka. Close your eyes, but then you are stuck with seeing nothing until you -dispel (all) of your buffs.

Otherwise, i'd spend a 5% to create a Dragon, a Half-Dragon Kobold or an Urd (winged kobold)

What can I say? I like werewolves and lizards.

Lythari. Same stats as werewolf except the “will save or beserk”-part

Racial traits like wood elf or wild elf (except the -2 int now that we’re dreaming). ECL +3

A Dullahan (though not entirely sure what sort of stats/bonuses/penalties would make it work. I just think the idea is really cool.)

Githiyanki /Githzerai - with some tailored stats, and maybe with the ability to use some sort of attunement potion like racial ability to perform planar travel

Giants - options between the different kinds granting slightly different bonuses/abilities similar to genesai

Some sort of improved golem crafting option - either new models or buffs to make existing models viable or customizable with weapon options, similar to how minogons behave (ie: gonne attack)

Azer (though maybe that could effectively be accomplished with a dwarf fire gensai, and a slight change to the model)

Cambion

Draegloth

Playing seelie or unseelie fey. Not pixies, but other (horrifying) kinds.

The ability to play satyrs, driders and doppelgangers would be great too.

  • Shade (Shadovar)
  • Fey'ri
  • Born (and mechanically viable) lychantropes
  • Feytouched or similar
  • More Warlock paths (Celestial, Shadow, Far Realm)
Though the last one is probably contingent on a warlock rework as a proper class which I assume will happen eventually.

Having spoken with GrumpyCat, I’d thought I’d share a more accurate listing of what we have available as 5% presently:
  • Rakshasa
  • Fey
  • Aasimar
  • Tiefling
  • Imp
  • Vampire
  • Cambion
  • Lythari
I’m sure I’m missing something, so I’ll add to that if it’s the case. But, to give insight into future 5% races that have been approved for awhile and are or will be in development:
  • Half-Dragon (All colours)
  • Avariel
  • Azer
  • Minotaur

The rewards always seem to focus on races or a unique racial heritage, like with rdd. The only exception is the "Noble" reward, wich is kinda lacking. Maybe expand on the "Noble" reward and add a 5%, that lets us play as one of the base races, but with some connection to NPC factions? Maybe a drow, that is a young and inexperienced (or disgraced) member of the house Freth? Or anything connected with the NPC world. Gate it behind 30-40 rpr, add a limitation, that you can't be anyone actually important (So, you can't be the son of the king of Cordor, but being some distant cousin, maybe a bastard of the family would be possible).

It would add some interesting RP options and the RPR gate would probably keep things from becoming crazy. Also, its a 5%, that gives almost no mechanical advantages, so only people who would have a nice idea on what do they want to do would pick it over some kind of a special race.

What would YOU like to see as a 5% option.
1. Nothing more mechanically powerful than the openly available races/items.

2. No absurd options such as dragons, liches, angels, and so on.

I think half-breeds such as half-dragons, half-fiends, half-celestials go too far, as well. There are already too many, painfully poorly roleplayed snowflakes out there. And let us be honest, all these rare, extreme characters walking the island contribute very little to the server in terms of story quality. I'd even say it's quite immersion-breaking, in fact. The majority of races suggested in this topic are supposed to be very uncommon to extremely rare. Thinking of the times where we had like 6 or 7 (?) PC dragons roaming Arelith still makes me cringe.

+2 STR
+4 CHA
Darkvision
Infernal Language
+3 ECL

Three specific shapes dependent on level:
1 - 9: Imp Form (5 DR, SR 10, Regen 1, Fire Damage Immunity 25%)
10 - 19: Osyluth (10 DR, SR 20, Regen 3, Fire Damage Immunity 50%)
20 - 30: Pit Fiend (15 DR, SR 32, Regen 5, Fire Damage Immunity 100%)
