So my husband's laptop. It's getting internet, as evidenced by Skype and NWN running, but I can't get any browsers to open; they say they're not making a DNS connection.
So far I've flushed the DNS, reset TCP/IP settings, and done a full system restore, and nothing. Can anyone point me to what it might be?
Thanks!

Maybe try changing your DNS to Google Public DNS? Here's how.
This should only help if for some reason your ISP isn't sending the correct DNS server address to the computer, but it's worth a shot.

Got it. When I cleaned his comp I found a buttload of spyware, trojans and a backdoor program. One or more of them set his DNS to another address. So I was able to clear it and use the Google addy (many thanks to TRM) and he is operational again.
