  • Fixed a negative points issue.

from sk

"-cheat":

  • Two new modes of game cheating have been added for dice and coins, 'Portent' and 'Guise Facing'.
  • To see how to access these two modes, type "-cheat ?" in chat.

Portent:

  • Portent can only be used by a character with GSF: Divination.
  • This will use your Spellcraft (instead of Sleight of Hand) to attempt to Portent your next dice or coin result. In flavor terms, this means you will attempt to predict what you will roll in advance.
  • Opposing parties are allowed to use Spellcraft (but not Spot) to determine whether you have used a Portent attempt. This will reveal that magic may have determined your result in advance.
  • Even though Portenting game piece results gives Diviners a powerful advantage over other gamblers... such attempts are not always successful. There is a chance of failure.
  • Diviners get bonuses to Opposing rolls as well as Portenting rolls, and Specialists get even more.
  • Divination Focuses give bonuses to Portent rolls as well as Opposing rolls. Specialists get even more to either.

Guise Facing:

  • Guise Facing can only be used by a character with GSF: Illusion.
  • This will use your Spellcraft (instead of Sleight of Hand) to attempt to warp your next dice or coin result. In flavor terms, you are using illusion to change the facing to look the way you desire.
  • Opposing parties are allowed to use Spellcraft OR Spot to determine whether you are using Guise Facing. This will reveal the true facing so spotters will see what your real result was.
  • Illusion Focuses give bonuses to Guise Facing rolls. Divination Focuses give bonuses to Opposing rolls. Specialists in either get even more.

From Kalopsia

MISC FIXES

  • Summon Guard: Now also works correctly after transitioning between servers.
  • Wild Mage:
    • Chaos Shield no longer erroneously includes the lower boundary, for example surge #45 for pure Wild Mages.
    • Fate once more takes into account Harper and Zhentarim bonuses to Arcane Caster Level. Note that other classes' CL bonuses remain exempt.
  • Mining/Gathering: Bonuses from equipped tools now only work while actually mining (i.e. attacking) with them.
  • Fixed an exploit where loading a spellbook would restore unlearned spells, as long as the character knew them while saving.
  • Hideous Blow: If a warlock is silenced while attempting a Hideous Blow, they will instead start auto-attacking. This prevents them from getting flat-footed due to an empty action queue.

From Kalopsia

WILD MAGE

We have decided to revert the recent fix to Harper and Zhentarim Fate scaling after some internal discussion. The reason for this is that some of these classes would allow for Perfect Fates without making the same sacrifices a pure-classed Wizard would have to. Going forward, Fate will exclusively improve with hard Wizard level investment.

The extension that provided tags on the forums has been disabled due to performance related issues. For some time we have noticed that creating / editting existing posts would take longer periods than expected (sometimes upwards of 30 seconds). Since disabling this, it appears to have returned to regular behaviour. If people are still noticing high latency with posting / editting on the forums, do let me know.

From the Team

We wanted to wish everyone a happy holiday season and a good New Year. Arelith is not Arelith without everyone here; none of this is possible without your creativity, commitment and support. The staff wished to thank everyone and gift each individual a normal reward and also reset their award cooldown timers to 0 (meaning you could roll if you were set on a timer).

Please be safe and responsible, and let us see what 2024 brings.

Cheers!

####### FROM AMNESY
################################

In a couple of resets.

#HARBINGER PATCH 1
Patch 1 based on community and team feedback - a big thank you for all the time spent on testing!
Please note the effect of this patch might mess with current PGCC Harbingers. I will not push scripted PC adjustments. Best to start with a fresh one.

<ELUSIVE_SHADOW>
Replaced with Shadow Sight, granting Darkvision Feat.

<DARK_CLAIM>

  • Bleak Prophecy - if delayed damage kills the target, it is accounted as if slain by atrocity and thus provides an applicable bonus for Dark Seraph.
  • Crimson Claim - scaling lowered to max 4d4 at the 28th class level.

<SPELLS>

  • Hemorrhage has a 100% refund for Crimson Count(ess).
  • CD-based spell-like abilities (like Curse Storm) have their DC standardized to Atrocity Whispers.

<RUMORS_OF_WAR>

  • HEXes: Now scale each 8 Class Levels, previously 7. Black Diamond cold vulnerability updated to 6% from 5% (will total 18%, previously 20%).
  • IMPROVED WEAPON HEX is merged with GREATER WEAPON HEX:
Increase Mortality Weapon Hex bonus energy damage by 1 stage (d4->d6, d6->d8, d8->d10)
    Massive Critical 1d12.
Vampiric Regeneration 3 (upgrades to 6 on 21+ Class Levels).
Spell Resistance 26 (requires 26+ Class Levels).
  • DIVINE PATRONAGE is merged with CROWN OF MALEVOLENCE.
Cha to Saves is provided for level 26th+ Harbingers.
Divine Synergy requires additionally 23rd+ Class Levels.
  • ETERNAL HUNTER sneak attack scaling lowered to 1d6 per 6 class levels (max 5d6).
  • LURKER IN DARKNESS, adjustments:
Trackless Step no longer requires Epic Harbinger.
Epic Harbingers update Uncanny Dodge I to Uncanny Dodge II.
  • IMPROVED DARK CLAIM is no longer selectable, it is granted as a bonus feat at the 29th Harbinger Level.
  • ELDRITCH PATRONAGE grants Sinister Call (yoink) to Epic Harbinger.
  • CURSED ARMAMENTS, Prowess requires additionally 23rd+ Class Levels.
  • KNIGHT OF DRAGON DOWN, new option:
Provides: +3 to Heal, Ride, Leadership.
    Grants Mounted Combat Feat.
Increased Spell Refund chance for Life Transference (100%).
10% Elemental Damage Immunity (Fire, Cold, Acid, Electricity).
Epic Harbinger: 10% Negative Damage Immunity.
Epic Harbinger: Mortality Weapon Hex provides additional +1d6 bonus damage against Dragons, Giants, Abberations, and Outsiders.
  • HERALD OF THE GRAVE, returning option:
    Provides +3 Appraise, Sail, Search.
+2 to Saving Throw against mind-affecting effects.
    Grants Skill Focus: Perform Feat.
Harbinger contributes 2/3 to the power of Curse Song (if made by Dirgesinger).
Epic Harbingers gain 10% Sonic energy immunity.
Epic Harbingers gain Extra Music Feat.

<SYNERGIES>
Specific RUMORS OF WAR provide synergy bonuses to Harbinger Spell Caster Level (1:1) and Class Level (1/2) [For Weapon Mortality Hex, and Atrocity] from their applicable multiclassing options.
Please note, that achieving 21+ Class Levels this way does not equate to having Epic Harbinger (that is a feat granted at the 21st Harbinger Level).

  • ELDRITCH PATRONAGE: Warlock.
  • LURKER IN DARKNESS: Rogue, Assassin, Shadowdancer, Invisible Blade.
  • DIVINE PATRONAGE: Divine Champion.
  • ETERNAL HUNTER: Ranger.
  • KNIGHT OF DRAGON DOWN: Knight, Cavalier.
  • HERALD OF THE GRAVE: Dirgesinger.

Harbringer Accessibility Error

Please be advised that Harbringer creation / selection is in error - this is not meant to be accessible. People who select the class will be forced into a -relevel once the issue is resolved. Anyone who created one is encouraged to delete the character (do not spend awards) as their vault will be cleaned once fixed - the game will flag it as a delete character message, so do not lose your awards.

Thanks

From backlands, Live next Reset!

Gift Wrapping System
Have you ever wanted to give someone a gift but the joy of giving the gift was lost because they offered you coin for the item? Well, no more! Available in a reset or two players will be able to craft Gift Wrap which will allow you to wrap items up and give them to your friends, no strings attached!

Is someone giving you a gift but you just don't trust them? Give it a shake, try and guess what it is. Maybe it's a new set of shoes, or maybe that highly combustible powderkeg you've always wanted!

Thank you to Miaou for the icons for this new system, without these it would have been much more limited!

  • New Gift Wrap craftable that is usable to wrap items (single or stack)

  • Gift boxes that can be exchanged by players with a unique guessing system

  • Gift Wrap (Paper)

  • Recipe (Carpentry):
    DC: 1 CP: 5
    1 Softwood
    1 Wax
    2 Cotton

  • Produces:
    Gift Wrap (Paper) x 5

From Twohand

From Sincra:

Myconid Pods:

  • Should now correctly summon Myconid as they used to.

Dweomercraft Patch 1.0.8 [PGCC as of a reset]

  • Title bar now shows a version, this will make it easier to see if the server has reset to the newest announcement.
  • Stack size is now taken into consideration for costs.

Fixes

  • Runic points will now update on opening the NUI as well as when you use an assayers lens and runic material.

Cordor Update

After the recent poll I thought I'd start with some Cordor work.

  • Visual Overhaul of Cordor Outskirts and Farmlands
  • Addition of Peddlar to Outskirts
  • Reactivation of two-way portal in Outskirts
  • Replaced Trade Guild (one can now travel between interior shops without the need to transition in and out of the Outskirts
  • Cordor Commons overhaul, and is now a player owned hotel. Those currently holding a quarter there will still have them, but the place can be purchased with the owner profiting off the interior rooms.
  • 3 new houses added.
  • Expanded market in Outskirts, with more temporary stalls.
  • Furth will now allow access to banking funds.
  • Various interiors in those areas fixed up or expanded.

From Myself and Sincra

Dark Bazaar and Festival Grounds will open for 1 RL week in every 8 for player events.

While open you will receive a message on login that they are running (apologies, that part has already been in a while) and the rest of the time the area transitions will NOT function, as such Whidershin Festival Ground will no longer be permanently accessible.

The Dark Bazaar is reached via gondola from Andunor all the time, but the entrance itself will be closed when the Bazaar is not running. We highly encourage players to stage events in both when possible.

From Zaphiel (with additional writing from staff)

We have added load screen tips specifically for Arelith, which should replace the default (that were recently added by a NWN update). Once I'm sure this functions properly we shall open a feedback thread so players may suggest other useful information to show during load waits.

Both updates will go live in a few hours from now.

from sk

Dirgesinger:

  • Dirgesingers will now recharge Curse Song charges faster. The recharge cooldown for Curse Song is now reduced by 1 round for every Dirgesinger level.
  • Additionally, every Dirgesinger level after receiving Nocturne Crescendo (level 5) also decreases the cooldown by an additional round per level.
  • This means at 10 levels of Dirgesinger, the recharge cooldown for Curse Song charges can be lowered by a total of 15 rounds (90 seconds), allowing more proactive usage of skills.

From Zaphiel

Loading Screen Hints

  • Base game hints are removed and Arelith specific hints are added.

Special thanks to Irongron, sk, DM Nixie, and DM Monkey for providing hints.

PSA: Hints printed to the combat log can be toggled off from game settings.

From Amnesy and Twohand

#########################

As the result of collaboration of Anatalania Silden and Myon's Council, the Conclave Tower is being opened in the Elven Quarter (Guldorand City), Southern Premise.
Providing the services of a warded meeting chamber and classroom.

From Sincra, as of next reset:

Tents and Decay:

  • The craftabe and NPC purchaseable tent with the ID 642 (Red Tent) now has a lifespan of 7 IRL days.

  • This functionality is similar to the Cheval De Frese (Dragonteeth) fixture and will retain time used between deployments.

NOTE:

  • The Blue/White and Red/White Tents (ID's 1349 and 1350 respectively) are not affected by this as they have sufficient cost craft wise and cannot be bought from NPC's.

The tileset 'Winter Rural Facelift', added to base NwN with the release of Tyrants of the Moonsea, has been added as a HAK to override the existing Winter Rural Tileset. Following a reset this will result in a immediate visual upgrade to Skaljard, and almost all of Skal, in addition to some areas of the Dark Spires. Textures will be greatly improved throughout.
