Came up with a neat item, could be fun. Obvously aspects of it would really need tinkering, and IDK if this could be done, but I think It could and it might be fun.
Delza's Dream Dollhouse
Description:
The Thayan archmage and Red Wizard Ezra Kel'Rek had very few redeeming features, but one of them was a love for her daughter, Delza. Alas, few Red Wizards get to be in positions of power without making enemies, and enemies always go for the weakest point. Knowing this, Ezra took steps to protect her precious child. She constructed a variety of small mansions, not on the prime, but in the Astral Sea, and then constructed an item – a dollhouse, that could be used to transport Delza to one of these safe houses there, should trouble come knocking.
Stories of what happened next are conflicting, but most agree that alas, Ezra's safe guards did not work. Some say that the they were both slain, before the dollhouse was activiated. Others that Delza did get to safty, but for some reason could not escape, or could not be found – and died of starvation, her mother succumbing to madness and death soon after. Others say that she was kidnapped from the safe house by some third party, and her mother now roams the planes forever, seeking her.
Whatever the answer, the schematics of the item were retrieved by her enemies, and put to good use in the construction of further dollhouses, such as this. Which, when used, will deposit you and your party to a Manse in the Astral Sea. There the user may stay as long as they wish, but upon departing will emerge approximatly where they entered. The dollhouse is destroyed upon use.
What It Does.
When activated the party is transported to a small mansion(*), with beds (rest up to 50%+ or more) food, and some home comforts(barrels of water, wine ect). There may (in some manses) even be a little permanent storage available. All the manses are warded from scrying and teleportation.
There would be approximately four (maybe a little more more maybe a little less?) manses available, and which one you go to is random. So you might meet another pc there, or you might not.
To leave simply the player merely exits by the door and return to (at least approximatly) where they were when the house was used.
To spice things up, maybe there could be the occasional, rare random spawns in the house. Other NPC travelers, Planar visitors, the ghost of a little girl, lost forever, or even a terrible creature from the Astral Sea, come to see who is invading!
However for the most part this item is design as a way to get to a quick safe house, a way to refresh a group before entering danger once more.
*Either this would work like the Imprison spell, but porting the entire party. Or perhaps it would be like a portal/door, which stays around for a minute or two but which only takes you to a Manse.

I like the idea too, but it require some area work and we are currently too busy to consider this.
