Studied Enemy:
Studied Enemies expand on the Favored Enemy feats, gaining the same bonuses.
To select a favored enemy, use "-ranger study (race)"
To choose a race as a Studied Enemy, a ranger must first exhaustively examine the weaknesses of that race by slaying a hundred examples of it. Presently, only PvE kills are counted.

Rangers have access to the -track command, which gives information about what monsters spawn in an area and the state of balance in the area. This ability improves with number of ranger levels.

If the character takes at least 3/4 of their levels in the ranger class, then animals dominated through the use of Animal Empathy will be converted into henchmen. A ranger may have 2 animal henchmen and one other animal, for a total of 3 followers.

Does ranger level effect how effectively they can examine tracks as well can they investigate corpses?

It doesn't affect examining of tracks or -investigate, no, but it does affect -track. I'll add that in.

If you aren't seeing it on Tryn, it might not apply to existing Rangers.

Rangers don't get Dodge for free, half-elves do.

When a ranger removes a hench-animal, should it always disappear with the *wanders off* emote? I've had a few stick around without disappearing and can't find an answer in any official descriptions of the AA or Ranger abilities.

It has been my experience that a creature that would usually be neutral towards your Ranger (blue) will *Wander off* when you release it from the empathy-domination/Henchman... where a creature that is aggressive towards your Ranger (red) will stick around when you release it.

That being said... just because the creature 'is' red when you apply the empathy, doesn't mean it will stick around. I've found that creatures that are ALWAYS red when you come upon them and you -never- see them blue... ever... those are the ones that don't *wander off*

Now... at what level of Animal Empathy bonus does a creature that was 'always' red become 'usually' or 'always' blue? That I haven't been able to determine.

Them's my findings through trial and error. -I've got a lowbie Ranger in the works, who's Empathy skill is 13 right now. I'll try to pay attention as skill increase begins and try and collect more data on the critters that wander off and those that don't.

The -ranger study [creature type, without brackets] command worked for me - you'll need to kill at least 100 of that creature type first, though.

So, for example...

-ranger study goblinoids
-ranger study giants

After entering it once it will prompt you to repeat the same command to confirm.

great :) tried and working, so no brackets for admin to update ;)
now one more thing for anyone that can answer...for pvp reasons, do druid shifter count as base race? or as shapechanger (or whatever...) as a favoured enemy?thanks

You can also just type -ranger study and it will give you a list of how many of each creature you've killed up to the 100, along with which favored/studied enemies you've already chosen.
