Max Player Regeneration?
Here's a fun theoretical that popped into my head the other day: what race/class/gear combination would net the most regeneration? With and without spells, but I'm more interested in the without.

Re: Max Player Regeneration?
Without taking spells or race into account, you're looking at +4, tops, from four separate items, one of which is a crossbow, another is the Druidic Garland. So pretty hyperspecialised. I may be missing an item that I've not seen before.
At level 30, Firbolgs cap out at +3, Vampires at +7. Imps have +2 flat from level 1. Being in werewolf form gives you regen, the amount isn't documented on the Wiki.
After that you've got Regeneration/Monstrous Regeneration, and Knight (Valiant subclass) has an ability to give everyone +10 Regen for a short while.

And summon a water elemental for even more regen?

Re: Max Player Regeneration?
If you rune all your gear and put +1 regen on everything that adds up to +11. Vampire gets +7 Regen. A monolithic Water Elemental gives +10 Regen with its aura. Regenerate gives +6.
Theoretically you could get 34 regen with help from a Druid. Not sure why a Druid would ever help a Vampire though. Realistically you'd top out around 18. Without spending a Major reward to play a vampire you could still get +11 from gear, then +16 from the monolithic Water Elemental and Regenerate spell, for a total of 27.
An Epic Dodge Palemaster with +11 Regen and high enough AC might be decently overpowered, though you'd sacrifice a lot in terms of gear for the regen and still have to spend a lot on Runes.

Re: Max Player Regeneration?
You could just be a Vampire druid/healer, summon a water elemental, have two regen rings, crossbow and druid garland.
It is weird though. If you make a healer, your "natural" and "item" regen will stop while you have your overheal shield (that is all the time), so just go healer or get a healer friend if you want nice 10 regen.

Since when can we put Regen on gear?NPC Logger Number 2 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 23, 2020 2:46 pmIf you rune all your gear and put +1 regen on everything that adds up to +11. Vampire gets +7 Regen. A monolithic Water Elemental gives +10 Regen with its aura. Regenerate gives +6.

I could have swore there is a +1 Regen option on the Basin. Maybe I'm mistaken. If so then disregard the +11 and replace it with +4.

I think there's only vampiric regeneration. Speaking of vampiric regen, though...NPC Logger Number 2 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 23, 2020 5:13 pmI could have swore there is a +1 Regen option on the Basin. Maybe I'm mistaken. If so then disregard the +11 and replace it with +4.
A dual-wielding monk/ranger with +5 blade thirst can, theoretically, regen 50 hp/round.

You have my interest. Might have to try and come up with a build around that.Baron Saturday wrote: ↑Tue Jun 23, 2020 5:56 pmI think there's only vampiric regeneration. If the actual vamp regen item property actually worked consistently, you could get that up to 60, but unfortunately...NPC Logger Number 2 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 23, 2020 6:19 pmYou have my interest. Might have to try and come up with a build around that.

Re: Max Player Regeneration?
Vampiric regeneration does work properly. It triggers 50% of the time on hit. It does not add bonus damage. Both are intentional parts of it from Bioware.Baron Saturday wrote: ↑Tue Jun 23, 2020 7:54 pmIf the actual vamp regen item property actually worked consistently, you could get that up to 60, but unfortunately...NPC Logger Number 2 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 23, 2020 6:19 pmYou have my interest. Blade thirst, spellsword negative imbue, and hexblade curse of blood use their own functions we made to ensure they trigger 100% of the time.

Re: Max Player Regeneration?
I actually looked vamp regen up on the NWN wiki shortly after I posted that and saw that it had been updated to read that vamp regen triggers 50% of the time. Last time I'd looked (several years ago, admittedly), the wiki stated that the vamp regen property wasn't functioning properly, and that it was unknown that caused it to proc or not.garrbear758 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 3:18 amVampiric regeneration does work properly. Apologies for the outdated info!
