Is there any reason to go 24 rogue 6 fighter instead of shadowdancer? (Aside from RP reasons)
Is it worth losing the capacity to solo most of the game's content, as you can with a heavy shadowdancer build? What do you get in turn?
How does standard rogue fare against shadowdancer?

The cookie cutter rogue is actually pretty good at PvP. Heavy shadowdancer builds tend not to be.
It will still do fine in PvE but you really need someone to guard you or make heavy use of darkness wands.

Re: How does standard rogue fare against shadowdancer?
The main benefits of heavy rogue are rogue grenades (which provide some great tools in both PvP and PvE) and a sneak attack that is NOT dependent on your shadow being around.
The biggest thing is simply not being dependent on a summoned shadow, which (while extremely tanky) can be countered fairly easily with dismissal, banishment, and word of faith.
Edit: Removed reference to blinding speed cooldown, since SD gets that as well.

They're similar in a lot of ways, but also different in just as many.
Both work well in PvE, SD is better solo while both are very strong in groups but Rogue can still solo a lot of content on account of all their utility and flexibility.
Rogue will generally be better in PvP (depending on the build) mainly on account of their grenades which have a lot of varying uses and abilities.
Rogues have more skill points so they can invest in more, more useful, skills.
SD have strong and interesting utility as opposed to the grenades with their Shadow Evade, Daze, HIPS, and now the Displacement.
I've played both 24/6 rogues, and SD heavy characters, and they're both strong and fun in their own ways. Even though they're very similar in many ways it's not really possible to accurately or fairly compare them because they are ultimately still different in just as many ways.

Should be noted that if you go SD heavy and take the Epic Shadowlord feat the shadow is immune to Dismissal, Banishment, and WoF.Baron Saturday wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2020 1:20 amThe biggest thing is simply not being dependent on a summoned shadow, which (while extremely tanky) can be countered fairly easily with dismissal, banishment, and word of faith.

I'd say the cookie cutter rogue DESTROYS the SD heavy build.
