Of course it's the school to drop if you're building the strongest wizard you can but you have to admit it has some of the most fun spells. Dominate person/monster is hilarious and very useful and strong in PVE. I wish the ESF enchantment bonus that was supposedly in the works a long time ago would happen because it is my favorite spell school from a gameplay and RP standpoint.

It's pretty unfortunate illusion specialist blocks enchantment too since they're thematically pretty similar. I think Bioware came up with the conflicting schools at 4:59 on a Friday. Making most of them block conjuration is just ridiculous.

Anyway I'd still maintain that I'd rather play a generalist on Arelith any day. While the extra spells are nice I still like options and the rest system is so liberal it's barely an issue in PVE-- on other servers where you can say only rest every RL 2 hours I'd go specialist or sorcerer every time. But I don't think either is a "you must" type of thing, not like other things you "must" do to make a viable character.

Enchantment has always been my favorite school. As a matter of fact, i played a lot more this weekend than i have in years because i was having a great time with some of the new spells/ old reworks, and of course, dominate monster, half expecting a DM to pop up and tell me to stop abusing the game.
The biggest problem with enchantment focuses in nwn is the inflated saving throws of all the mobs and general "immune to mind affecting," not the spells, themselves, which are an awful lot of "i win" buttons when used with an iota of tact.
Holds? As effective as a death spell. Confusion? Absolutely fantastic. Domination? Lol-city, with the ability to solo RDI with a BS build and being only half awake
Now, that's not to say i dont think it would be fun to buff enchantments (by which i mean lowering the number of monsters with 35+ will saves), but I'm having a hard time seeing enchantments as weak.
Let people forego it, says i.

Yes enchantment is still viable. Top wizard meta on arelith tends to focus on non dc spells is all. You do not need to be top meta to be viable and fun. It still be cool to get something towards your specialty as a specialist though rather just picking which school you throw away.

As a question to devs, are there plans or discussions to revise the move of mass haste to its actual school of transmutation, as opposed to lookIng to add other cookies to not make enchantment so easy of a forbidden school? I’d not make an illusionist, and have carpet pulled out from under the concept a few weeks or months in.

As a Wizard, I went Necro. Oddly, I don't have any Necro Spell focus at all. (Trans, Enchant, Conjure)

Likely a bad choice, however I am only giving up Prem and TS really. Prem was a tough pill to swallow, but Greater stone skin is good enough for PvE. I don't care about knock or disable trap. The biggest loss was see inviso to be honest, but my pets help me with that.

Knowing the mobs in Arelith aren't just fodder made me want to be able to use dom monster/person. As such I didn't want to lose the school Mass haste was just gravy.
