Deep Imaskari & Soulhaven

Post by Kuma » Mon Apr 06, 2020 3:17 pm

so DIs are outed by a lot of NPC dialog in Soulhaven as, specifically, "underdarkers" and encouraged to bugger off. this would be all well and good if NPC populations even knew what a DI was - outcasts are supposed to have their crimes known by general populations, or at least be considered suspicious, whereas Deep Imaskari can even have a surface start (Skal) and are by and large unknown. they certainly shouldn't be attracting the sort of villainy straight off the bat as, say, a drow.

if the prospect of how 'weird looking' they are is a factor, planetouched or PMs don't get this treatment and they could look identical or weirder. also, there's literally nothing to single a DI wearing a helmet out as being unusual compared to any other human adventurer running around, reading their books.

this is the case with a lot of npcs actually and they still get the "you attract weird looks" dialog that i think is something svirfneblin and yuan-ti get, which should probably get nixed too.

Certainly they shouldn't be included with monster races in those scripts.

I'll take a look.

I'll fix him, thanks to Bat Country, who wrote a new script to help with that!

Do you want me to keep posting NPCs and situations where I get weird reactions as a Deep Imaskari on the surface, or does Bat Country's new toy automate this?

I have to go through all individual conversations and replace scripts, so please advise me.

oof

Every single Trackless Sea writ NPC (except the Skaljard Mayor, though he gave me a Deep Delvers writ, weirdly. I imagine this is more to do with having done the UD writs before, somehow).

I'll keep posting as I find'm!

Something related:
The NPC trader in the Imaskari Tower does not trade with DI.
If you click on "I have other questions" - the dialogue ends.

Rolled characters:
William Bones; Durk Rotgrun; Hector Bartholomew; Rali Runehammer; Daris Blake; Nathaniel Silvers; Mordarok; Guy Silvers; Shayleth Shadowblood

A bit of a necro, but caravans give monstrous dialogue for Deep Imaskari still, and refuse to allow them passage.

These things happen to disguised drow (and possibly duergar/svirneblin) too, when they really shouldn't (at least if they pass a disguise check).
