Shapechange and polymorph should add weapons and special abilities

Why not? sorcerer and wizard need some love, it also opens up the door to good transmogrifist build options

It's probably something that the team will get to sooner or later. But it's probably going to be a pretty big overhaul to all sorts of shapeshifting, it's interaction (or lack of) with gear in general, and other things. It's a huge project, from the looks of it.

I don't want to see a spellsword who uses a polymorph scroll into a dragon, with their fully decked out and kitted out swords personally. That sounds truly horrifying.

I don't mean dragon gets sword, nor do I mean that any personal equipment gets put on the polymorph. I mean the shapes that would normally have weapons, balor, fire giant, etc get their weapons, and well as dragon gets breath, slaads get whatever they hell they have. etc

Oh, fair enough. Yeah my apologies then. I read this like "The world is full of spellswords. Spellswords all the way down. Please don't give them a 52 strength mod, any PVE or PVP will just be clashing of dozens of dragons" :D

I've always wanted something like this, and I'd like for it to scale with non-spellsword levels, and transmutation school feats and specializations.

Let casting be done in polymorph. Let me use my spellbook!

I think this would be cool for transmutation specialist wizards and druids!

yeah i think there are a few forms which this would make sense, troll, fire giant, dragon, umberhulk, fay
it would also be cool to add a 6th or 7th level "greater polymorph self" with stronger forms than the 4th level version.
I would also really like the list of available summons to be increased, adding some fey, and yugoloths
additionally it would be cool for a spell that would allow you to change into PC races, elf, dwarf, human, etc, it would add a new level of intrigue and options especially for evil-doers, cause its kinda silly that an extremely powerful drow wizard can transform into a dragon, but not a halfling

Honestly don't think it will happen because there is rakshasa and risen lord shapes. Far too difficult to balance with these in the mix.

considering that rakshasa is already major award AND dm approval i don't think if it were to be a balance issue, that it would effect much. I mean, they're supposed to be powerful, compare such shenanigans to average pally or SS

Nah they mean the Shifter Form 'Rakshasa'.

But I think the changes could just focus on polymorph/shapechange and it'd be fine.
