This is important. Some of the most common questions I see repeated again and again when it comes to henchmen is people not being able to recruit them and not understanding why.
It could be solved by simply stating the requirements OOCly in the NPC's description as we do for leadership requirements or it could be solved by improving their conversations to strongly hint at the mechanical reason ICly ("You are too weak for me to consider joining you" "You are too strong" "I'd never associate with a commoner like you").
