Powderkegs & Fire/Acid Bombs needs some love

Post by -Heavyline- » Tue Nov 27, 2018 6:34 pm

Powderkegs and fire/acid bombs are great and interisting ideas in general, but ... making these items are not really worth it. Considering how time consuming it is to make them.

Fire/Acid bombs have 20 DC in Alchemy Crafting and it takes 30 crafting points to make them. They both require 1d4 temporary essences and 5 flask of oil to make them and finding/buying those is another project entirely. Fortunately you get 10 bombs after making them successfully.

Powderkegs however... oh dear. That item requires so much work... but they're not worth it at all, unless used for RP. But even for RP events they are no threat.. The item has 24 DC in alchemy which is as much as permanent damage essences and those are more desirable things in Arelith than powderkegs. The powderkeg also requires 72 crafting points which is the second most crafting points required in Alchemy. (Alchemistic Catalyst (Greater) and Dragon Oil require 80 crafting points). Succesfully crafting powderkeg rewards you with only 1 powderkeg. It's one time use and it weighs 30,5 lbs. It's "Delayed Blast Fireball (13)" which may cause 50 fire damage to a single goblin. The only good thing about powderkegs is that making them does not need as many complex items as Fire/Acid Bombs do.

These items can be powerful in low level areas, but no one really wants them around when there are better alternatives. Even one single Gonne Explosive Slug causes more damage than Powderkeg. Gonne Explosive Slugs are much faster/easier to make.

Yes, Powerdegs especially sound great, but are sorely lacking.

Approved.
