Wyvern riding is very thematic, but its potential seems a bit limited by the need to travel to a particular location to do so. Furthermore, the Ride skill currently has little to no use in the Underdark as there is no actual mounts.
I believe a particular loot-only item could fix that: A whistle that can call a Wyvern once per rest if the user is in the Underdark. The creature would not fight, but talking to it would launch the same conversation as speaking to the NPC at the FOIG location - except that travelling would be free. The usual ride skill checks and DCs should of course still apply for this.
The wyvern would disappear automatically, either after a few minutes have passed or when a player used it to travel somewhere.
