The new pickpocket mechanics are great, but having an NPC cry out thief is pretty jarring on the roll of a 1, and it's a real step down from the old system where a failed attempt wouldn't necessarily mean you're spotted. And like with crafting, it doesn't make a lot of sense that a very skilled pickpocket would have a 5% risk of failure when they're beating double the DC of the pickpocket attempt or more even on a 1.
I would suggest implementing a masterful recovery mechanic similar to crafting for those with appropriate points in sleight of hand.
