Re: Quarter timers

I'm glad to hear that the timer is being increased. I agree that 7 days is very reasonable for those high demand properties. But normal quarters. Aka. Those outside the bidding system should be able to be enjoyed by even more casual players and those of us with busy lives so 14 days is much better f...

Quarter timers

I'm not sure how widespread my sentiment is but to me the 7 day quarter timer is often too short. Even though I play actively when I'm on land- as a seafarer by trade 7 days without internet is commonplace when I am working. I understand that there needs to be a timer to make sure quarters aren't ho...

Re: Nolzur’s Pigments

The only issue with the pigments I have is that some of the objects aren't fixtures.

The first of the total of two times I've gotten those pigments I used to make some pretty sparkly pearls- It was slightly disappointing that I didn't get a fixture but just 10 stack of normal pearls lol.

Re: Surface Evil Needs Another Home

Please do not allow non-inked to buy quarters in Sencliff. Other settlements already have a problem of outsiders hogging all their best quarters. If anything quarters should have stricter requirements on who is allowed to live there, you should be a citizen, be the correct race(s), and it should be...

Re: Surface Evil Needs Another Home

I was under the impression that Sencliff already is protected by the settlement raid rule.

If not- putting it under that, and allowing non inked to buy basic quarters would maybe solve multiple issues.

Re: Lack of creative prisoner RP options for Surface

It's baffling. I don't know how to reconcile this in roleplay. The most memorable stories I've enjoyed in Arelith have always stemmed from that speck of gold amongst sand. We can't change other people's behavior any other way than by setting an example. So just keep at it in spite and because you d...

Criminal rehabilitation program. Force the baddies to talk about their feelings. I don't mind characters being stuck in prison for few days, my baddies have been in prison a lot. You can always play another character when the designated therapist isn't available and with a bit of OOC communication y...

Re: Assassin Contracts: Timers & Moonlighting?

I'm worried some kind of ruling there might lock away some cool concepts. Years ago I had great time playing an assassin who was absolutely trash in a fight. (20something assasin 3 wizard, int based. You rarely reached 30 level in those days) But rather than fighting his targets himself his expertis...

I think you already can be a chaotic good pirate without any reward. (Unless you're talking about monstrous chaotic good pirate).
As far as I'm aware there's no alignment restriction to taking Sencliff tattoos.

Re: Removing Outcast and Pirate Tags

I like collecting new pirate ranks whenever I play a pirate character and the easy infamy they bring, but I have mixed feelings about them. I feel like the tags are too much of a 'Game' aspect, and thus slowly and discreetly has moved a lot of roleplay towards 'Gaming' culture. I see this in how man...

Personally I don't think we should expect people to be able to avoid modern phrasings. Most of us aren't literature experts with the faculties to even detect modern phrasings on the fly or use correct old timey ones. But blatant memeing is very obvious when it happens and it goes hand in hand with o...

I don't have much to add in the whole group psychology discussion at this time but I do have few tips to share from playing a number of characters that gained the ire of the masses. Maybe it will help some of the hapless warlocks out there trying to make an honest living under lawman's yoke: Avoid c...

Re: Sailing - Is it viable anymore?

It might be interesting to ponder developing the the current skill check system, as It is hard to especially during lower levels to find people to sail with. No idea how doable anything is or how much of a puzzle it would actually be to make it. But I'm just spitballing ideas. For example: Highest S...

Dungeon Where you get stuck - Skaljard Stores

Description To get to the ruins with the manes in The Demonologist writ you have to get past a locked door. If you manage to do so without sufficient open lock skill, in my case actually hire someone to pick the lock. Once you return you get stuck because there is no lever or anything on the other s...

That's not really what I meant manipulation can be great rp. A skilled manipulator can add just enough facts to the r...

Re: Scrying: Yea or Nay?

People tend to take a diviner's word as the gospel, yeah.
Even though a diviner can and probably does have an agenda. You don't even need to lie to colour events to look the way you want them to. But that whole thing would be an awesome in character conversation, not something to be had on the forums.

Speaking as a player of a diviner character. I think it's exaggeration to say the change makes the mirror useless. It's a nice backup line of defense against scrying if you forget to keep the countermeasures at play. That small window is pretty much what a diviner can hope to fish for with their cry...

Shadowdancer's epic Shadow

I think the shadow lord should share the shadowdancer's stealth score. Or a boost to its stealth.

It makes some very awkward situations as the shadow has only 30 something stealth and is practically always spotted.

I've played quite a few antagonistic characters over the years, some thoughts that might be useful for aspiring villains: As mentioned before. Don't use PCs as NPCs. Instead, use NPCs as NPCs. The lasso/rope is a wonderful tool that allows you to catch Npcs. You can even RP through the captive with ...
