Re: Potential Suggestion looking for feedback, Resource Island
Funneling players that are interested in conflict to a place that's meant for it could alleviate a lot of the anger on the forums and in game. Players that don't enjoy that kind of storytelling will get less of it; players that do want it will get more of it. This, so much this. As a former underda...

Yes, and wordlessly stripping wards and throwing hellballs into PVP is not a clear communication of anything.

Re: DM involvement in mass PvP?
I will put my hand up here and state, it was not the best choice to attempt to break up a very bad start to a pvp encounter. I was hoping that bombard would make both parties retreat, after seeing the battle start with NO RP. I think that is an absolutely unacceptable thing for a DM to do, personal...

Concerns about Repeated Sweeping Class Changes and the Departure from 3.5 Mechanics
I would like to take a moment to share my concerns regarding the sweeping class changes on the server over the past few years. While I understand the desire to improve and balance gameplay, I believe that the current direction of these changes deviates from the core mechanics of 3.5 edition Dungeons...

Re: Development Feedback
It's great to see the community discussing these topics and sharing ideas, however, I kindly request that we don't turn this conversation into a debate on PvP combat. While it's an important aspect of the game for some players, it's not the focus of this discussion. Let's stay on topic and continue ...

Re: Development Feedback
Arelith is supposed to be a D&D based game server I completely agree with your sentiments regarding the changes over the past few years. It's important to remember that the server is based on the 3rd and 3.5 edition of D&D, and that prestige classes were how build diversity was added to characters ...

Re: Development Feedback
Balance is completely unnecessary in the face of the mission of the server. It strives to be a roleplay server, and on a roleplay server it's not only acceptable but actually makes sense that sometimes you roleplay the guy standing next to you being a bit scarier than you are. That doesn't mean tha...

Development Feedback
Dear Arelith Development Team, I wanted to take a moment to express my thoughts and concerns about the direction in which our beloved server, Arelith, is heading. As a developer and avid player of Arelith, I have seen the server evolve and grow over the years. I understand the desire to continually ...

Re: Spellmageddon Part 2
A clear lack of testing before pushing this update led to the server crashing so heavily and repeatedly that a 10+ hour rollback was needed. This effectively wasted my entire day off of playing and I am sure just about everyone else affected is rather unhappy with this as well. I get that when you h...

Make Mail of the Holy Knight into Plate of the Holy Knight
As it stands the Mail of the Holy Knight is a very cool set of armor in that you get: Armor Bonus: +4 (AC Armor Modifier) Armor Bonus vs.: Evil +5 (AC Armor Modifier) Damage Immunity: Bludgeoning 5% Immunity Bonus Damage Immunity: Piercing 5% Immunity Bonus Damage Immunity: Slashing 10% Immunity Bon...

Paladins added to Sanctified Plate
Currently the following list get access to their own 'special' craftable full plates: Orog only, Earthkin Defender, Cavalier, Divine Champion, Warlock. I think it's strange that only divine champions can wear Sanctified Plate, and not Paladins (and probably clerics and maybe even favored souls). Pal...

Shadovar and Shadow Doors
I am aware this is bordering on "Suggestions" rather than feedback. Perhaps I'm woefully uninformed, but I have not seen a single shadow door on my Shadovar character and all those who I've spoken to have the same complaint. I know there is some 'FOIG' to finding them, however being that the system ...

Re: Sail skill
I can confirm that 60 sail is sufficient to safely sail everywhere . I've done that - solo. With a strong party (or even a single strong build) that can repel boarding PvE encounters, you can do it even with 0 sail too - it just takes a while. The only PvE content that is truly locked behind very h...

Re: Death, Corpses, and Verisimilitude
The need for tracking score (PC head collectibles) and flaunting achievments (unbashable remains) comes from players that haven't divorced themselves from their characters - and server policy, in my opinion, shouldn't cater to those people. This is largely how I feel about it. And let's remember th...

Re: Building Better Collaborative Stories (Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Conflict)
OP, I sort of wish you made two separate threads because I feel like there's two very distinct and important takeaways that can come of this conversation. I sort of wish I did too, but I didn't want to burden the forums with it, and I think it's better to give a good springboard for discussions tha...

Re: Building Better Collaborative Stories (Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Conflict)
Thank you SorrowKitten and I agree more or less with your post in it's entirety Dershar. Bleed happens, and its silly to try and just refuse it. Your screed on feeling bad is exactly what I was trying to get across when I was talking about seeking out "loss" for your character as a way to spur growth.

Death, Corpses, and Verisimilitude
This is a bit of a contentious topic, but I've been internally chewing on it for a minute and thought I'd post my thoughts. As it currently stands, I have yet to see the corpse bashing / head collection mechanics used for much of anything beyond borderline griefing. This is doubly unpleasant when yo...

Building Better Collaborative Stories (Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Conflict)
I think that it can be easy to fall into an 'Us vs Them' mentality regarding conflict on the server. I also think that it is somewhat common for people to try and separate 'mechanical conflict' (pvp, etc.) from 'narrative conflict'. I am here today to offer my own thoughts on both of these things, s...

Re: have settlement raid rules changed?
I have always been a big proponent of the concept of "in character actions have in character consequences". Sometimes, those consequences aren't what you wanted for your your character, and it can be easy to feel like RP is being 'forced' on you if, for example, you end up in the path of a raiding p...
