Re: Faerie Fire and Headband of Protection
There's a bit of a general misconception about Innate level. Innate level alone decides whether a spell is blocked by Headband, or Globe, etc. Innate level does not differ between classes, only the spell level in their spellbook differs sometimes. (The spell level in the spellbook decides the bonus...

Re: Summon Adjustments
I am pleased casters once again have to be more skilled than just watching a summon kill things . Oh and to put things in perspective I've had a number of wizards, and currently a sorcerer. I haven't had time to look at any of the changes yet, but is there something we can compare summons to to get ...

Re: How do you RP a drow?
I always tried to involve other races, except drop subtle hints my character thought they were less. Got to be really subtle or know how much is enough. You don't want to be starting pvp all the time. Someone once said my drow was an atmosphere drow. I took that to mean that my character brought mor...

Re: Lack of creative prisoner RP options for Surface
Not so sure what else to do with a vampire for example but stake them. Leave them out in the sun to face Lathander's justice. You could leave them, your character expecting them to die, but they manage some heroic escape. Or you could just sit there and have some sort of meaningful conversation wit...

Re: Lack of creative prisoner RP options for Surface
Once I had a paladin that put a Mark of Justice on a captive. The trigger situation being not to engage in the activity that caused the problem. It's entirely role play. Up to the the captive if they even want it, or how hard they believe it is to remove. Another character once caught a necromancer ...

Re: Headband of Protection Spell Immunity
It's worth mentioning here that when an item/spell has spell immunity of level X or lower, it refers to the spell's Innate level, which is identical for all casters, regardless of what spell level it has in their specific spellbook. Or that's how it used to be for many many years anyway. Balagarn's...

I never really imagined Autumn in such a situation. I went with it when the opportunity arose and did what Autumn would do and its been wonderful. It was nice to see a human side to what is otherwise usually just the unfeeling face of evil. Kathryn had depth and I appreciate the work and skill you p...

Re: first impressions of Arelith.
Not every dungeon is four hours. Some are sure. I avoid those. That's why I rarely go to Kohlingen. Of course finding your way through things for the first time could add some time, but having a character join a faction could help. Above all though I just carry a portal lens. If you're not through t...

Re: The Amendment to Fugue Rules seems flawed
If you want to make people take character death more seriously you have to reward those who don't die often rather than punish death itself, be that with experience loss or a long boring cut scene. Not that those things themselves in moderation aren't bad. A little experience loss to make it annoyin...

Re: have settlement raid rules changed?
My character was one of the ones at the recent session at Westcliffe. I didn't see any rule breaking. They didn't run in and rush things to completion. Even if you stayed around to role play they left an avenue to avoid a fight. I even thought the pick pocketing of characters that were held up was i...

Re: Summon Buff Changes
Are these runic sequencers expected to be used often or just only situational? I can see the greater ones being more situational for sure, but if the orb cradle one is intended for repetitive use it feels like the crafting ingredients are too much. Running around looking at the multitude shops or as...

Re: Cultural Issue - description of female/male PCs
"Charisma measures a character's force of personality, persuasiveness, ability to lead, and physical attractiveness. It represents actual personal strength, not merely how one is perceived by others in a social setting...." That is from the manual for neverwinter nights (yes I still have it). Now I ...

Re: Cultural Issue - description of female/male PCs
Yeah. I see such descriptions all the time. And, I don't even care. People are in the mindset of playing a heroine or hero. Comes with the territory. My character met someone the other day who had a description along the lines of "most beautiful." Had a great time rping with her too. Really great. S...

Re: Shade Assassin spawning outside Arcane Tower
I encountered this shade assassin a few months ago too. It paralyzed one of the animated armor units that stand vigil outside the Tower door. It seemed to come from behind the tower and walk up in stealth. I thought perhaps it was related to the transition I used to get to the Tower.

I've had the fortune of being part of a couple of mini events of Titania's. Nothing grandiose, but they were very special. It felt like the setting was brought to life. Greater Magic Weapon: Mordenkainen's Sword
The level of the summoned creature, Mordenkainen's Sword, is 16, and all the weapon enchantment spells are as if a level 16 character casted the spell, even if your character level is much higher. I am hoping this is just an unfortunate side effect of the change when using such a spell on a lower le...

Re: A Hero Emerges: Guide to Paladin RP
Lawful upholds a justice system, and favors the truth, and civility (as determined by culture), and mercy. Lawful good where applicable (some faiths make stipulations for not being beholden to laws they find immoral) upholds both the spirit and the letter of the law. Lawful does not mean "obeys the...

Re: A Hero Emerges: Guide to Paladin RP
Even when you're convinced you're in the right, murder is still murder, Actually killing something that is evil-aligned for no personal gain is in fact a good-aligned action Except Paladins are both Lawful and Good. That is, while killing something evil could be construed as good there are times wh...

Most of the shadow plane writs do not take that long to complete, they're small dungeons aside aside one for sure. Perhaps that is the reason the rewards seem slim? There's one I am not familiar with yet. I like them. I do not have the time or usually the inclination to go on longer trips, and the s...

Re: PureClassing & Spot
doesn't practically every single named mage NPC have like 3+ competing classes for no especial reason. Aside Larloch, Mordenkainen, Halaster Blackcloak that's true, but I think for the most part they use magic themed prestige classes: archmage, red wizard of thay, arcanist, loremaster, etc. They are...

Re: PureClassing & Spot
Define "not supposed to". Forgotten Realms mages, specifically, are supposed to be able to learn a spell called blindsight as a third level spell, that gives them an option to deal with a skill-check they normally can't overcome by, as was aptly put, bending reality to their will. They're not skill...

I find it a shame there are not more group effort shops with multiple players behind them.
