Wrong AB - Ogre

Post by bitterwork » Thu Jan 13, 2022 11:09 am

Hello,

I've noticed that the wrong AB is being applied in the combat log. Even though the character sheet shows the correct AB.

BaB = 14
Str mod = 11
steel weapon = 2
Weapon focus = 1

Total = 28 and displays as such on Character Sheet.
Combat log = 27

I've tried re-equipping and relogging etc. Though no change.

Character race is Ogre, I'm not sure if that has something to do with it. I'm not twohanding so not sure what the deal is. Though when I do twohand mode, the same thing happens. Missing an AB.

At the end of the day it's no big deal, though I thought I would bring it to your attention.

I tried to attach the screenshot though it's too large apparently.

Cheers,
Bitterwork

Ogre is a large race. Large races gets -1AB and -1AC due to their size category.
Edited for grammar to make it worse, probably.

Yes, it isn't that you have -1 AB or -1 AC ... it's that you have -1 when attacking medium creatures, and medium creatures have +1 to attack against you. So it isn't reflected in the sheet.

Actually you just get -1ab attacking anything as a large creature, doesn't matter of their size.

Same as small races get +1ab against all targets, even other smaller beings. Same goes for AC. It's just preset bonuses or negatives per size, the target doesn't actually matter.

Oh, so the script isn't that complicated-- and it just applies it across the board, but is kinda ... hacky ... because NWN's is janky and inconsistent? Come to think of it.. I think halflings get +1 AC/+1 AB from a feat, right?

Small stature yea, its basically what defines them as small. The other small races should have that feat too, I believe.

Not a bug, but an intentional NWN engine mechanic, closing the report.
