Illusion messages ignore stealth and always send
I don't know if this is a bug or intentional, but I really don't like it.
Description: Unlike speedy messengers, illusion messages always send, even to stealthed targets.
==========
Steps to reproduce: Have illusionist friends who like to send you illusions when you're stealthing.
----------------------------
Expected result: No illusions to arrive.
-----------------------
Actual result: Illusions arrive, revealing my presence to anyone in the area.

Re: Illusion messages ignore stealth and always send
Actually, a note to add to this. I know that if you are unstealthed when someone has a speedy window open and is typing, a message will still arrive if you stealth after they begin sending it.
This bug is different. I have received illusion messages even when I have been stealthed for a very long time. And it happens fairly regularly, leading me to believe that illusion messages completely ignore stealth.

i don't think the illusionist thing is a bug. it's a spell, after all. though i understand how annoying that can be (years of arelith and watching stealthers get outted by speedies, and all)

Re: Illusion messages ignore stealth and always send
I actually don't mind this, as I play a character who is almost always stealthed and it allows people to contact my character in case of emergency.
However, it would be nice if there were some sort of feedback on the illusionist's part, something like:

I also am a proponent of a -nomessage command which auto-refuses speedies and messages of any kind. Not only for stealthing, but for the sake of doing a long rp session without being inundated by messages (this is especially an issue if you're a faction leader of some kind).(RECIPIENT) is currently in stealth/in hiding. Send message anyway?
Re: Illusion messages ignore stealth and always send
I was about to agree with this, but then I thought if a Speedy Messenger can use obvious magic to teleport across planes, there is not real reason they wouldn't be able to locate a stealther anymore than an illusionists spell.Halibutthead wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 6:43 pmi don't think the illusionist thing is a bug. it's a spell, after all. though i understand how annoying that can be (years of arelith and watching stealthers get outted by speedies, and all)
They should be the same imo.
Re: Illusion messages ignore stealth and always send
As far as i know it's always been that way with illusion messages / working as intended.

It's been a thing for a long time, yeah. Always been annoying to get exposed due to some well meaning illusionist you have no way to protect against other than... not being online or not doing things in stealth.

It gets abused though. People use it to check if you are in the area.
