Armor of the Wilds and druid shapes

Having an issue where whenever I go through a transition in any shape I get the "Must have 35 UMD to use this item." Notification. The armor is not unslotted but I am losing both dodge AC and the armor's AC whenever this occurs (from 59 to 41 AC). This is only fixed with shifting in and out, activating expertise does not fix the issue so I suspect it's not registering I am a WE whenever I go through a transition.
