Shadowdancer Shadow can only speak Common

Hello!

I was asked to post this by DM Poppy, who indicated I should be able to change the language of my shadow by going,
/a -xa (Setting the language the shadow uses)
-a "Words" (Then producing language from the shadow)

While I can speak all the common I like through my shadow, no combination of any sensible commands, including the above, appears to be able to make the shadow speak anything but common. (Including other non drow languages I have.)

I am a drow, fluent in -xa, and I'm a shadowdancer with the Epic Shadowlord feat.

It has been this way for some time. It would be nice to have function like Illusions get.
