I'm noting that it seems the debug info is blotted out or not included, please either reveal it or send me it in a pm.

Also, bags do have a weight value of their own.

[MEGATHREAD] Incorrect container weights

Post by Sincra » Sat Sep 24, 2022 2:16 am

Post your bug reports regarding bags and containers weighing incorrect values here.

Make sure that you include the DEBUG info from clicking the debug button, either as an image or as text.

Mining bag (Standard).
The weight seems to be reduced correctly, however the maximum capacity seems to be reduced of the same amount (so I can't fit more than ~60lb of content in the Mining Bag (Standard).

Description
==========
Ornate Jewelery Box weighs 12.0 lb even after using Storage Container Repair Station.

Steps to reproduce
----------------------------
Place empty bugged jewelery box in repair station, choose to repair. Wait for repair confirmation. Retrieve jewelery box, check weight.

Expected result
-----------------------
Empty Ornate Jewelery Box should be restored to 2 lb after using Storage Container Repair Station.

Actual result
-------------------
Empty Ornate Jewelery Box still weighs 12.0 lb after using Storage Container Repair Station.

Debug Output prior to using Storage Container Repair
-------------------
Current Recorded Weight: 0
Max Weight: 2110
Amount Stored: 0
Unique Amount Stored: 0

Debug Output after using Storage Container Repair
-------------------
Current Recorded Weight: 0
Max Weight: 2110
Amount Stored: 0
Unique Amount Stored: 0

Misc Notes
----------------
Jewelery Box was bugged at 12.0 lb when purchased from a player shop. Took it to the repair station immediately to attempt fix. Saw that it was not fixed after using repair station. Removed it from inventory to check that it did, in fact, weigh 12.0 lb; it was not just a bugged description. Used repair station again, jewelery box is still 12.0 lb.

This actually looks correct.
6 x 5.1lb = 30.6lb (Mithril)
10 x 5.1lb = 51lb (Gold)

81.6 * 10 = 816.
Add the rest, *0.#, where # = % / 100.
So that comes out as max weight 105.5lb, current weight 82.3lb as actual values.

Have you tried adding then removing a single item?
This recalculates the weight properties if this is not the correct base weight.

The empty versions of..
Ornate Jewelery Box weigh 12.0 lb
Jewelery Box (Enchanted) weigh 0.4lb

You seem to have the unenchanted version.

I did not; I will keep that in mind if this occurs again.

The empty versions of..
Ornate Jewelery Box weigh 12.0 lb
Jewelery Box (Enchanted) weigh 0.4lb

You seem to have the unenchanted version.
In that case, I apologize for reporting in error. I had been told that the jewelery box was supposed to be 2.0 lb, similar to the other basic containers.

The weight reduction is computed correctly, but I think the Max Weight has not been increased to reflect the increased capacity.

These are the values for a Headbag (standard):

(which also seem to be wrong, as 105/6 *10 is 175....)

The values stored inside the debug are true weights, how the system works is it puts the property weight increase on, but it doesn't need to care about weight reducing that value.
The game does this post fact via the Item property.

Perfect, Thank you.
Now I know it's not clearing the weight var but is clearing the stored amounts.

You can paste the address on a private chat on discord (I use oghmabot), then copy the address image from there and paste it here.

Headbag (Standard) is multiplying base bag weight instead of staying at 2lbs.

As of writing this, I had 3 heads in the bag. each being 10.4lbs initially

DEBUG INFO:
Current Recorded Weight: 1572
Max Weight: 1580
Amount Stored: 15
Unique Amount Stored: 2

I have tried putting the bag into a repair station, as every time I sell heads from it, the weight of the bag goes back to some obscene 82.3lbs as a default as though it is carrying phantom items.

Repairing it only fixes it until a new head goes into the bag and it skyrockets back to that point.

This container is notoriously bugged. Usually you can remove some items to very temporarily fix the issue.

Frankly? Dump the item. Get an enchanted jewelry box when you can.

Does using the container fixer solve the issue?

Ornate Jewelry Boxes have always been complicated. I suggest you buy the Enchanted version asap, or try to fix it in a container repair station. You can find one in all settlements.

I'll eventually finish the rework of this system but I've been busy not doing that for a bit, as above, keep using the containers repair station for now!

Sorry I missed this thread, thanks for moving my post here.

I'll see if I can find one of these repair stations.

Thanks!
