spells that deny spellcraft saves

Post by frightnight » Sat Mar 21, 2015 3:33 pm

i was thinking of a concept for a priest of talona that uses contagion and poison..and was wondering if these two spells..as they have their own set DC deny saves bonus from spellcraft as they have their own duration..would help make my build more viable

"◾The modifier to saving throws against spells does not help against most spells with a duration, such as storm of vengeance, grease, and combust. "
Nwn Wiki

"◾The modifier to saving throws is used for more than just spells. It also applies against most monster and item abilities (specifically, everything defined in spells.2da). "
wiki

in addition it might be helpful if someone could list more spells that bypass spellcraft.. thx for the help
"You have died...Your corpse has been picked up...Your corpse has been dropped..Player you thought was your ally has left the group."
(the ultimate betrayl..)

The dc's for most contagion disease are super low and take an IG hour to manifest their full effect. So...no, not terribly viable in that regard. Poision is nice at early levels, doing 1d6 str damage, but its dc is 18, so it won't be too effective by early mid-levels.

MOST spells that deny spellcraft bonuses are spells that don't directly target the enemy. Directly targeting being instantaeous spells, whereas a lot of the ones that deny spellcraft are persistant effect spells.

There are exceptions; posion, contagion, and glyph of warding, for example. These spells, however, are also usually terrible.

As for a list of said spells...experiment! Its fun!
