Are PCs allowed to join the Flaming Fist?

I’ve been reading up on them and they’re an interesting group. They’re mercenaries but with a military system. They practically run Baldur’s Gate and have tried to expand. Are there any PC Flaming Fist in Arelith already?

The general answer to this sort of question is:

PCs can claim whatever affiliations they like. Other PCs do not have to believe them, and you shouldn't expect DMs to back up your claims.

Since we're talking about a global scale merc company, I really dont see why not. It's like you can make an elven character from a house in Evermeet and people may or may not take you seriously, depending on your RP so I dont think it's any different here.

Very easy to work this into your character without making things weird locally: You were part of a specific unit from somewhere else, not the local Guldorand unit. There will be shared stories, a DM might respond to it or might not, and both of those things fit into your narrative.

But, yes. Can say you're a part of it, but that doesn't mean you command nor deserve any respect for the fact and should not expect to be treated as a notable member of it, especially given that now there are flaming fist henchmen

Because players and PCs come and go. Even just by browsing the forum history and IC interactions I can tell there have been factions that vanish for one reason or another. While a faction like the Flaming Fist is rooted in FR lore and will “always” be around.

That being said, if it all comes down to my PC just claiming to be a Flaming Fist, then I’m not interested.
