Examine, attribute values

Post by Oaks » Mon Sep 06, 2021 9:16 pm

I've been noticing people with e.g. "very high" attributes again. Have we added them back to the palette? Is that a good idea? I was kind of on board with reducing OOC build-reading opportunities.

If the distinction is going to stay: What about -mimic? How to -mimic a "very high" score?

Attribute scores now take into account buffs from items and such I believe.
This too shall pass.

(I now have a DM Discord (I hope) It's DM GrumpyCat#7185 but please keep in mind I'm very busy IRL so I can't promise how quick I'll get back to you.)

Thank you for the response, is that documented somewhere? What about my other questions, especially about -mimic?

It was put in very recently. Sorry it hasn't made its way into an announcement, next time we do a big one I'll try and fit it in.
Mimic isn't in yet. But then there's an argument that it's difficult to mimic scores that high anyway.

Could perhaps it be a boon for ESF: Illusion, or Illusion Specialist wizards to mimic, then?

Mimic-ing a score from Low to High should be considered harder than High to Very High.

Was this ever implemented? Mimicking very high scores, that is. And if so, how is it done?

It's active and can be done from the new character interface via rest menu.

Are there any special requirements to be able to mimic Very High? It doesn't show up on my character with 14 Perform.

Through the -mimic command, characters may attempt to replace the stats that are usually shown when examined with a fake result. This is specially useful to lead people off from your real orientation and actual abilities - so for instance a rogue may appear as strong, hale and hearty as a barbarian, or a wizard as charming as a sorcerer.

A character can disguise one of their four exposed attributes (Strength, dexterity, constitution, charisma) for every hard 7 ranks in either Perform or Bluff, using whichever is higher as the strength of their mimicry. The two can be combined to get access to the 4 mimicries as soon as level 11 in a bard.

When other character examines, they will roll the stronger of their Search or Spot against the mimicry to get through it. These rolls are completely silent and not reported. If the roll is failed, The perception rolls last for as long as an hour, before they can be rolled again examining.

Do you have enough hard ranks and if so try the old method via -mimic command to see if that gives the opinion.

Yes, enough hard ranks to change 2 stats, and it works just fine except that it doesn't give me the option of mimicking the newly added "Very High" stat, on any of them.

One of my characters has full-investment Bluff, 84 effective Bluff, and still can't mimic 'very high'.

Rolled: Solveigh Arnimayne, "Anna Locksley"
Shelved: Ninim Elario, Maethiel Tyireale'ala
Current: Ynge Redbeard, ???

I tested it last night and can concur. Very High is still not mimic-able
