Was this information removed on purpose? I think it's good to show the race on the heads at least as this would validate specific races needed for various IG rituals and ceremonies.

If I recall correctly, it was removed on purpose due to metagaming of races that shouldn't be obvious after death (yuan-ti, rakshasa, etc).
