Rogue specialty weapon - Light crossbow
Howdy!
Is light crossbow considered a rogue specialty weapon for the bonuses at 19 and 24?

Rogue specialty weapons are required to be useable via weapon finesse.
As per NWN Wiki (my bolding):
"A character with this feat is adept at using light weapons subtly and effectively, allowing him to make melee attack rolls with his dexterity modifier instead of strength (if his dexterity is higher than his strength)."
I haven't tested it, but light crossbows shouldn't get the bonus.

Tested on PGCC and the bonuses work on light crossbow.
Forever a duckling.
Character: Typically some Orog in UD

Re: Rogue specialty weapon - Light crossbow
The bonus used to be for any rogue proficiency weapon so missiles or non-finesseable rogue prof. weapons like morningstar also worked. That was changed to "any finesse weapon" on the wiki but maybe it wasn't in game? I do think ranged weapon using rogues ought to get this ability so hopefully they do.

It works for throwing daggers for example.

I also tested with and without the signature weapon feat but the AB didn't change with the light crossbow.
Could we get a definite answer from the devs regarding both of these matters maybe?

Yeah I'm trying to piece this together. The update note I found was from last November:
"+Rogue:
All finessable weapons are now valid Rogue Specialty Weapons."
Which doesn't necessarily mean non-finesse rogue profiency weapons no longer got the bonus, but it probably does I guess?
Then in the Wiki history the page was changed around the same time with the note:
"Arelith Changes: updated to remove requirement for rogue proficiency weapons for rogue specialty weapons and add any finessable weapon."
So I guess that's what happened? I wasn't playing a rogue then or since but it would be good to know if this nerfed ranged rogues in particular.

I'm guessing the rogue specialty is melee only then?

Ranged weapons are dex. Far as i understand that's all that's needed for rog bonus now.

Actually, do me a solid and test and see if you get the bonus on a longbow, shuriken, or throwing axe? Those aren't rogue proficiency and I bet that's still a valid exclusion.
Happy to update the wiki once that's confirmed.

I'll try but won't be playing again until at least Monday so... if someone else wants to...
