What are templates for use by rangers and how would I get one?

What are templates for use by rangers and how would I get one?
That's one of the more new-player unfriendly things about the game and something you'd never figure out on your own. You can find "assembly templates" in player shops, have someone craft them for you or make them yourself... you have to add essences or spells to them and they deteriorate and may or may not be repairable depending on which you have. It's probably best to ask around IG if you can and here's the wiki page.
