Dwarven armored noble - Build question

Another concept I was toying around.

How would you build a paladin - dwarven defender? Especially Ability wise.
Important: I would like to keep a high Constitution aiming for Epic Damage redux.

Could try 15pally 12dd 3rogue

Not sure if you get anything from 2 extra dd though, so might be worth getting more pally or rogue. 15 pally will net you full divine favour and greater magic weapon though.

Off the top of my head and with mechanical advantage in mind only, I'd guess keep the Paladin low. The useful feats are in the first two levels and Dwarf won't be useful for getting high Charisma. Then high DD and enough Fighter for Epic Weapon Specialisation.

Something like 3 Paladin/ 6 Fighter / 21 DD

Or 3 Paladin/ 7 WM/ 20 DD (if there're enough feats)

Or pump Charsima despite Dwarf, since after all it's only -2, by starting with 14 and adding Charisma Gift. Then... 15 Paladin/ 5 CoT/ 10 DD?

The main issue here I see is the ability spread.

Starting con required to be 18 for the later Epic dmg redux.
Dex needed at 13 for dodge which is a prereq for DD
Wisdom for paladin levels, charisma for paladin levels.

OMG, never ever I built a paladin, because of their multi ability requirement always scared me.


Paladin and or Charisma I was thinking about more to represent a "Leader" , "Noble" sort of guy. Someone who can take the front and encourage his allies with both speech and behavior.

I guess I'd need to take multiple Gifts and Noble background as well.

Well Winter83.. effectively You are building Baston.. at least same character concept

Baston build is: Pally/DD/Bard 4/6/20
From the top of my head I ended up with base: 18 St, 13 Dx, 16 Con, 14 Wi, 12 Int, and 18 Ch (Gold Dwarf with gifts). Most of ability points went to Ch.

Could You make it to epic damage reduction? Well if You are desperate Yes.. but unwise as You would have to cut away on St and Ch probably and I HIGHLY doubt You would have the feats for it in such a build. PLUS Etheral Visage would override Your EDR if I remember correctly anyway (unless the enemy is using a weapon with 4+ enchantment).

In overall the character is fully playable, highly flexible. If You want I can send You the whole build detail and its advantages/disadvantages I learned the hard way. PM me if interested.

'Tathkar Eisgrim' is Fighter / Paladin / DD. I took less strength, maxed out CON (via background feat), didnt bother with wisdom for pally spells.

I started with fighter to gain feats for DD. took some early DD levels once qualified; then pally once i felt i was close to wanting to travel to Brog past the you know what. early twenties i started going back to fighter for weapon specialisations.

Make your choices based on which of the classes you wish to emphasise and how offensive / defensive you want their outlook to be.
