REALMSLORE: Celestial Paragons

Post by Red Ropes » Sat Jan 23, 2021 8:00 pm

Celestial Paragons were akin to the Archdevils, Altraloths, and Demon Princes in the lower planes. Unlike their vile kindred however their different ethos' never results in direct conflict or evil. The higher plans were not selfish places and villainy did not rip them apart, and though some could be prideful they never demanded the worship of mortals as it was they who were servants to the gods and the powers of eternal light.

They did however act as the agents, messengers, and awesome champions of gods of light. Within the Realms they sometimes sponsor mortals in their crusades against villainy and on behalf of the gods they serve. Anyone who attempts to worship them will be rebuked and reminded of that sinful deed. Most mortals aware of what they are know them in the context of the gods they serve and so invoke them like saints and exemplars to live by.

On Arelith there are module placed altars and shrines in FOIG locations where a pilgrim can attune to these powers to supplement their worship and perhaps change their aspects. Currently only the Celestial Hebdomad has been added, but others, may be added in the future.

The CELESTIAL HEBDOMAD
The archon guardians of the Seven Mountains and Layers of Celestia and the servants of the House of the Triad.

TALISID and the FIVE COMPANIONS
The guardinal lords who dwell in the House of Nature and stand against those who would pervert or destroy nature.

The COURT of STARS
The Queen of the Eladrin and her courtiers who are the protectors of Arvandor and Selûne's domain.

CELESTIAL HEBDOMAD

Post by Red Ropes » Sat Jan 23, 2021 8:01 pm

In the lore of the Realms the Celestial Hebdomad are seven legendary Tome Archons who dwell in the House of the Triad and are subordinate to the gods Tyr, Torm, Ilmater, and Helm.

All that is known in these same legends is that they were seven mortal martyrs who perished as champions of ORDER and RIGHTEOUGHNESS in times immemorial and each oversees a mountain in Celestia as well as leads an army protecting it.

Zaphkiel, the greatest of these archons, is a figure of mystery whose true origin and nature are unknown to all except, as legend goes, to Tyr. They are the only remaining archon from the ancient days and they alone were charged with naming the replacements among those who fell from among the other archons who were said to take the form and place of their predecessor.

The deity Bahamut was once remembered among their ranks as the co-ruler of Mercuria but has ascended since to godhood and still dwells in the House of the Triad.

These beings refuse worship but sometimes influence the mortal realms by acting as sponsors for the archetypical paladin or the righteous and orderly.

Barachiel the Messenger (K&I + H&H):
(bah-RAY-kee-ehl)

Mortals associate them symbolically with a lion. They were said to watch over Lunia the Silver Heaven of Mount Celestia. They were known as the leader of trumpet archons, the Herald of the Hebdomad, leader of Celestia's defenses, and a patron of mortal heralds.

Domiel the Mercy-bringer (W&D + H&H):
(DOH-mee-ehl)

Mortals associate them symbolically with an ox. They were said to watch over Mercuria the Golden Heaven of Mount Celestia. They were charged with looking over the many great tombs and mausoleums in this realm. They opposed wicked tyrants and among mortals were a patron of those who opposed tyrants and desecrated the restful dead.

Erathaol the Seer (K&I + Magic):
(eh-rah-THAY-ohl)

Mortals associate them symbolically with a dragon. They were said to watch over Venya the Pearly Heaven of Mount Celestia. They dwelt in the library fortress of Xiranthador and spent time watching the multiverse unfold, paying special attention to children they knew had great destinies. They were a patron of seers, prophets, and librarians.

Pistis Sophia the Ascetic (K&I + H&H):
(pih-STIS Soh-FI-ah)

Mortals associate them symbolically with an eagle. They were said to watch over Solania the Electrum (sometimes Crystal) Heaven of Mount Celestia. They spent their time visiting the cathedrals and monasteries there and walking with petitioners through the valleys. They did not dwell in a palace by choice, living without possessions, and so was a patron to monks, mystics, and ascetics.

Raziel the Crusader (W&D + H&H):
(RAY-ZEE-ehl)

Mortals associate them symbolically with a bear. They were said to watch over Mertion the Platinum Heaven of Mount Celestia. They opposed evil in all its forms and with righteous anger which was said to make them burn - earning them the nickname the Firestar. They were the patron of paladins.

Sealtiel the Defender (H&H + W&D):
(see-AHL-teel)

Mortals associate them symbolically with a dog. They were said to watch over Jovar the Glittering Heaven of Mount Celestia. They are with protecting the seventh and purest heaven, Chronias, from incursion. They were the patron of guards and guardians.

Zaphkiel the Watcher (H&H + W&D):
(ZAF-kee-ehl)

Mortals associate them symbolically with a donkey. They were said to watch over Chronias the Illuminated Heaven of Mount Celestia. They were the embodiment of purity and good - and watched over the most innocent mortals, particularly stillborn and sacrificed babies. The only entities to have actually seen Zaphkiel are the gods and the other tome archons. They were the patron of the innocent.

COURT OF STARS

Post by Red Ropes » Tue Sep 21, 2021 12:30 pm

The Court of Stars, sometimes called the Court Under the Stars, was a demiplane ruled by Morwel, queen of the eladrin. It was the seat of power of the eladrin, but more than that, it represented the essence of the eladrin people. It was also the name for the collective of the beings known as the eladrin lords.

In the Realms, Morwel, and her two (current) consorts Faerinaal and Gwynharwyf were known in association with their alliance and service to the Goddess of the Moon - Selûne, the whole of Corellon Larethian's Seldarine, the Seelie Court, and the goddesses Eilistraee and Sune.

They often are involved in the fight against fiends - particularly baatezu and beings which corrupt beauty.

Morwel the Queen of Stars - Magic, K&I

Known to mortals for her eminent beauty and protection of it. She cherishes freedom and lends her aid in the fight against tyranny and evil through boons to mortals on behalf of gods of Freedom or Beauty.

Gwynharwyf the Whirling Fury - W&D, H&H

Known to mortals for battles against the Prince of Wrath (Kostchtchie) and the Dark Prince (Graz'zt) - as well as the beast Demogorgon. She represents the noble spirit of warriors.

Faerinaal - Magic, T&D

Is known particularly for shrewd diplomacy that involves misleading evil and undermining it. He is particularly known for disrupting the Obyrith in ancient days which lead to the rise of the much weaker tanar'ri.

TALISID & THE FIVE COMPANIONS

Post by Red Ropes » Tue Sep 21, 2021 12:37 pm

The guardinal paragons, Talisid and the Five Companions are in service to the lords and ladies of the House of Nature in the Realms.

For as long as there have been guardinals there has been the Celestial Lion and his Five Companions, exemplars and epitomes of their respective kind. In contrast to the mostly unchanging ranks of the archons, the members of the Companions come and go, assuming office when they are strong enough and abdicating when they can no longer handle the position. Talisid, the current Celestial Lion, has held the position for longer than usual and few can even recall the name of the last one to hold his post. His Five Companions, however, have all recently ascended to their current positions

The actions of the six are guided by the principals of goodness, and particularly the ideal of friendship that they illustrate in their adventures together. The leaders of the guardinals are the closest of companions, bound together by a fierce devotion to one another that puts loyalty to shame. There is from time to time discord in their midst, since the different kinds of guardinals may at times conflict, but they argue and clash as the dearest of friends, holding themselves to the highest standards of love and good.

They tend to intercede in the protection of natural splendor and those who respect the natural world.

Talisid the Leonal Prince - Nature, W&D

Sathia the Sky Duchess - Nature, K&I

Kharash the Stalker - Nature, T&D

Manath the Horned Duke - Nature, T&D

Vhara the Duchess of the Fields - Nature, H&H

Bharrai the Great Bear - Nature, Magic
