Sorcerer/Wizard Suggestion.

Post by Eters » Sat May 27, 2023 8:23 am

"Wizard/Shadow Mage/Wild Mage

Arcane Flow:
Fourth circle, Lasts 1 turn/level and can be extended, a spell that allows the wizard to refund spells with this %: Level 1: 80%, Level 2: 70%, Level 3: 60%, Level 4: 50%, Level 5: 40%, Level 6: 30%, Level 7: 20%, Level 8: 10%, Level 9: 0%. (Metamagic affects the % of refunding). Generalist wizard is only able to refund the spells matching his GSFs, with the exception of: Mass Haste, Isaac's greater missile storm.

Specialist wizards get an extra 10% increase refund chance on their specialty school spells.

Shadow mages get an extra 10% increase refund chance on spells with mind affecting / fear descriptors.

Wild mages no longer get refunds from wild surges when the spell is active, furthermore, wild magic spells are exempt from the pool, Nahal's reckless dweomer, Chaos shield, Improved Chaos shield.

Sorcerer

Bloodline Flow: Fourth Circle, Lasts 1 turn/level and can be extended, a spell that allows the sorcerer to refund spells with this %: Level 1: 80%, Level 2: 70%, Level 3: 60%, Level 4: 50%, Level 5: 40%, Level 6: 30%, Level 7: 20%, Level 8: 10%, Level 9: 0%. (Metamagic affects the % of refunding). Sorcerers don't get a restriction on the GSFs, they can refund any spell in their arsenal with the same exceptions as before (IGMS, Mass Haste).

If Bloodlines are ever added to sorcerers, sorcerers could be limited to having a chance of restoring spells tied to their respective bloodlines."

This is the suggestion itself, inspired from the cleric's divine power as it seemed like a neat system when I played with one. Does this suggestion need tweaking? Yes, I believe it does and would appreciate further consideration/tweaking for it. Does the naming needs changing? Yes, I'm bad with names. Does it solve the issue with current wizards/sorcerers? I don't know, maybe, but it certainly feels like a good balance between infinicasting and their current state.

((if this suggestion is really bad feel free to roast me))
