non-native server portal lens penalties

Post by Rowlind Salem » Tue May 30, 2023 12:42 pm

For "SURFACERS ONLY", the portal/leyline system to move to/from/within "THE UNDERDARK ONLY" there should be a risk of the portal lens not taking you where you wish to go. Blame it on the fazeness, but actually it's just a way to make it so raids on the underdark take some coordination and stealth, not just a bunch of lenses.

Base risk is 90%. So 9 out of 10 times, you're going to a random zone on that server. Maybe even the Lowerdark...

Transmutation focii would reduce this risk by 25% per tier. (65% chance of wrong ley)
Using GSF transmutation on self or other would reduce the risk of going to the wrong ley by 50%. (40% chance of wrong ley)
Using ESF transmutation portal would reduce risk for group by 75%. (15% chance of wrong ley)
A portal made by a Transmutation Specialist would reduce risk for group by 100%.

The same penalty would apply when native underdarkers (including slaves and former slaves) try to maneuver to/from/within any server that is NOT the underdark.

This means getting your chain broken makes it so your future life on the surface is going to be complicated by this. You can move using lenses in the UD no problem still, but try it on the surface and you're going to be subject to the randomization governed by your access to transmutation skill focii. No more full access to all UD portals for surface folk without there being a catch.
