It's pulling from our old wikia page (outdated and irrelevant now) and automatically self-publishing a book based on that. They do it to capitalize on the thousands of wikia.com sites out there.

Everything on Wikia is locked down by Wikia, and they can do whatever they want with it. Which is why Arelith still has a page there - they literally won't let us delete our page on their site.

They won't let you. Several people were banned by wikia admins for attempting this.

As TRM pointed out, we literally do exactly this, and have done this for years.

Someone should seriously make a proper book about Arelith, with tons of community made stuff like that map being made and famous character bios, along with tons of the IG stories and books people make!

The Encyclopedia Arelithica team is working on the story end, but a book of mechanics, like the one that's being sold, would be a waste. Too many things change.

That about the mechanics book is an absolute facade.

If that book was about FOIG revelation of secrets (like how to break the puzzles of the Talonite Sanctuary... Where is every "secret" or hiden corner... Where are all the resources with an exhaustive list... A guide to explot every flaw, dodging the DM staff, as bonus some hacks to dominate a DM... then I could worry...

About the map... that is not yet completed nor released, so makes nos ense talk about, but if was anytime completed... then I will request to TRM that were not posted in the Wiki... I don't want something that is taking literally hundreds of hours of my real time ended under foreign property.

I will share it with the community for any use in the game, but not with commercial goals. And with this purpose I guess the Arelith site is secure... as I will share digital copies to any registered Arelith player asking for them (for free).

Not to mention... the map is based in a World concept that I didn't created... so.. how could I want to make bussiness with that? ... in case someone was thinking that was my purpose... the answer is: NO!

If someone has a lot of time on their hands, and feels bored, it'd be somewhat hilarious to edit most of the entries into things that, at first, might look like they make sense..but when you read the whole of it, it is a bunch of nonsensical garbage.


Also, you could just replace every entry with an image:

i know most people dont really care about the arelith stuff because nobody's going to buy something so obscure, but in general, when i see someone ripping off somebody elses work and trying to make money on it, that sets off red flags. maybe arelith doesnt care, but somebody else might care that someone is making money off their hard work.

They're wikia pages. What they're selling is like a compilation of all of the take out menus from a given restaurant, over the years. It's not their work, but it was meant to be free anyway, and the information is beyond worthless, so who cares?

I've contemplated making a proper printed Player's Handbook (graphic designer by trade), but as pointed out, things change too quickly for it to be anything but a novelty.

Besides, as anybody who has tried to document things for Arelith can attest, its practically a job in itself.One that we've nobly dodged for many years.
