Steam: Holiday Auction Bid

Post by Seven Sons of Sin » Fri Dec 12, 2014 12:41 am

So, Steam is doing something new this year-

You can convert all items in your Steam inventory (trading cards, emoticons, backgrounds, etc.) into "gems"
And then, between December 15-18th you can now bid on games and stuff using said gems. Highest bid gets the game for free.

Bids happen at a turnover of 45 minutes.

What do people think?? Is it a hack?

I'm myself unsure at the moment- the only good thing about it I've found is at least recycling all the crap you can accumulate over time, like lame backgrounds or emoticons.

It's a neat concept, but there are so many people on steam I feel like this will just lead to all the people without a ton of money won't really get all that much of the 'good' stuff.

But that's the point. The idea is to trick everyone into clearing out their inventory.

Then they'll need to refill it with stuff. Expensive stuff.

I would "Turn into Gems", but "Turn into Gems" does nothing.

Beep boop.

better to sell the 'random junk' on the steam market.

Why should the great bell of Beaulieu toll when the shadows were neither short nor long?

It's crazy. Shadow of Mordor was at approx 40k gems about 4 hours ago. Now? 400k.

I don't even know how you get that many gems.

Appease to your lord and master, bestow your valuables upon His holy altar to become gems, and then offer them as sacrifice.
