Sooo... about 12 o'clock
When announcing the time that things are happening, you should keep in mind that 12pm is noon. 12am is midnight. But, really, you should never, ever say either 12am or 12pm because even if you're right, about half your audience is going to get it wrong. Just say noon or midnight.

Or move the time one minute in any direction. Or any of a hundred other options. The point is, it's a terrible plan to ever do it this way.

We call it "military time" here in Murica.

Owlbears are the only thing keeping Arelith from the D&D experience.

Actually - whilst we're on the topic of times. Small little thing for peeps to keep in mind...
Now - this hasn't happened much, but I do think it's worth mentioning because I know it's happened to me at least once.
Americans!
Britains use a slightly different date signet than you do.
For us, to say the 25 of December, 2014 is-
24/12/2014
As I understand it Americans use:
12/24/2014
Both are quite valid, but under some circumstances confusion could occur.
So - if putting a date down for something think a little before using the above dating systems, and consider just writing it out instead (e.g. twelth of febuary). This may aviod a little confusion.

Re: Sooo... about 12 o'clock
People usually add thursday/friday/saturday to it either way.
Re: Sooo... about 12 o'clock
Confusion is complete, when dates are below 12: Is 11/12/2014 December 11th or November 12th? And nobody understands the system we use in Scandinavia, Germany, France ...: 11.12.2014. It might be some sort of IP-adress??? Hooray for the multicultural world!Yma23 wrote:Actually - whilst we're on the topic of times. Small little thing for peeps to keep in mind...

Yeah, it also doesn't help when the day of the week and numerical date don't match. Or the date given is in the past. But, really, there's no reason to ever have ambiguous dates. 11 Dec is the same as Dec 11. No muss, no fuss.

What about a countdown to the next reset? =p
Every tick shows it.

Re: Sooo... about 12 o'clock
So, basically, what you're saying is that time goes:
11:59 am -> 12:00 pm -> 0:01 pm?
<sarcasm>Thats totally not complicated at all!</sarcasm>
There should not even exist 12am/pm.

Yes, it's stupid. Yes, 24-hour clocks make more sense. But if people insist on sticking with it, use noon/midnight. No one is confused about which is which.
