Question about Kobold Models

Good Evening,
With the update of the kobold models out, I've gotten conflicting information in regards to existing players being able to request changing their models for the kobold.
I've heard players say that DMs are able to swap them, as long as you know, they have time available to them to do so, and they don't have more urgent things going on.
But I've also heard people say DMs are not able to update the static models.
So I'm just trying to reach out and find out what the current definite answer is in regards to this.
Are existing kobolds able to request getting a static model update to one of the new models that were recently released? Or is that not possible at this time?
