Most hilarious and disastrous deaths IG!

Post by The Man of the Moon » Thu Oct 23, 2014 2:28 pm

Based on true stories... IG:

1. NOT HILARIOUS BUT SO DISASTROUS DEATH: When my group came to the deepest level of... and we face to Icingdeath... the dragon not only killed all those who couldn't escape (me included)... but in addition, before smash me, he had disarmed me, so what I lost my principal weapon: A masterly damask with a permanent essence +4 (when to earn the half gold required for that was so hard for me)

2. HILARIOUS & DISASTROUS DEATH: After receive a speedy of a friend of whom she told me they were preparing to travel to Kohlingen, I agreed to embark with the group... When the ferryman announced our arrival to the island ... the companions landed ... and I touched by mistake the area in the hut to land ... in the Sea! (Automatic death and irrecoverable body: had to release from the beyond!)... Not to mention the fellows were like WTF? RFLMAO! (as I myself was)

3. HILARIOUS CLOSE TO DISASTROUS... When my small monk was prepared to join alone that dungeon (...) Completely and to end up by defeating the final boss... And after almost quarter of hour of combat against the final enemy... On returning outside, I saw a chest and couldn't avoid the temptation of trying if it was opened (slightly totally irrational, because well we know that always the chest are enclosures with serious traps) ... little I could imagine that the trap was so strong ... and the salvation was a 1: instantaneously dead to -3 hp and bleeding... hahahahahahaha... lucky one, at last I stabilized at -8 hp so I could leave alive!

  And you :?:

No no... I believe he meant Death

Here's mine:
Barb Rage in the middle of the fight! Took a bit of a hit, doesn't matter, I'm a BARBARIAN! ... After the battle I shrugged my wounds off and grunts, not realizing that the only thing holding me together was the Barbarian Rage. Guess what happened when it wore off? Yep... a visit to the fugue plane.

Walked into a cave around level 12-ish. 5 Bugbear Heroes were waiting at the entrance, along with a bunch of other critters, ditched by some passing epic. Entered in the middle of the pack, and couldn't move. Three of them got critical hits on their first attacks.

At Kohlingen I was with a group and the gonne had just come into play.
With over sixty sluggs I was gonning everything from sea serpents to marauding mages.
Mis-clicked on myself and discovered that 186hp was not enough...

Clicking yourself with a Gonne seems to be a suicide option, yes.

My first time RPing on a ship. My Rogue finished his RP and left the cabin. I couldn't figure out how to leave so I jumped off the plank, thinking it was the only exit and I had to swim back.

... I saw fishes. I saw a vast expanse of gorgeous oceanic scenary. A moment of underwater beauty to rival any National Geographic documentary... [STR CHECK] ...then I drowned.

(TELLS)

soundofastream: ???

me: I didn't know how to exit! Thought I'd be able to swim to shore.

soundofastream: I've seen many people walk that plank. But you're the first to do it voluntarily! LOL

My arcane archer once killed himself with his own seeker arrow.

I also found out via empirical evidence that it's possible to greater ruin yourself.

Lily once dropped a fireball at her own feet because someone made her mad. Someone saved her, I don't remember who. A Malarite, I believe.

I got a left-handed mouse for myself, and decided to change the button orientation for clicking.

Playing rogue. Go to disarm a chest. Still not used to the mouse. 'Left' click instead of 'right' click. 80 damage trap-zap. Survive.

Do it again a nanosecond later.

I once decided to stalk a high level cleric.
They were having trouble killing a creature.
I moved over to the creature to go and help them defeat it.
Implosion.

In other server (Oniria I think it was) We had a cleric top level that managed to accidentally kill our whole group in a hard fight where the only creatures saving against death were the mobs! He survived only thanks to greater sanctuary, so he could lure the mobs far away to return and ress us... but was really hilarious! ... Three of us getting low rolls in the savings throws and the monsters getting high rolls

Casts grease for RP reason, walk through it because I ignore it as druid. Pet gets angry and 1 shots me. Gets resurrected by the others present, rests and resumons pet, invisible enemy dominates animal and kills me with my own pet again.

Those smites.

My Sharran BG was on a stroll with Godfrey, totally undercover. She got a fast trip to fugue with a Smite Evil misclick.

Also gonnes. A disastrous patrol at Kohlingen. First Khayal shoots himself to the leg and almost kills himself, right after I misclick at Robert and blast him to death area. Such skill.

And all those deaths stemming from arrogance and being encumbered. Devon, a level 30 evo sorcerer. "I don't need buffs at the Crags, no matter if I'm perma-encumbered". He got eaten by bears. Such an obviously stupid way to die.

Torvas and Gideion duel. Gid falls first and a villain joins me right after when a CON buff goes down. "Powers are in balance." Hilarious end for a PvP.

This thread currently has me going back through my screenshot collection (Roughly 8gig of screenies) and compiling separate folders for each of my characters, filtering out all the nonsense screenshots and basically making a giant collection of nostalgia. This will be uploaded hopefully in a few hours for anyone interested. (I'll use either the screenshot thread or make another thread entirely, as there is tons here!)

Those bears are no joke. Especially when they spawn in a big group. I wouldn't be surprised if they're responsible for a significant percentage or PvE deaths on the server.

First long-term character Poppy Popkins kills her own party and herself with blade barrier against spawns. This spell also destroys bodies, making raise an impossibility. Whoops. They were not happy.

Bears also killed my level 30 wizard/paladin during lag. Very dangerous! Do not underestimate!

Another hilarious and disastrous death I caused while on this same wizard was on another adventure during the days it was autohostile between surface and underdark. A drow was nearby stealthed, and my wizard had their silver dragon accompanying her. Silver Dragon begins to beat up drow, and wizard is confused on what it is attacking. Drow dies. Whoops! I apologize, and then remember that specialist abjurers cannot conjure, and so can't use raise dead scrolls. Poor Drow.

Arvora Swift died from Icingdeath when an adventuring party was fleeing from it and ran into her and her own party. Arvora's weapon was also disarmed during the tragedy. It was her last life, and the disarm has allowed the weapon to carry on in game. Somewhere, someone has it.

S-S dying over and over again from low con and using rage, then dying once it wears off. At least four deaths are responsible from rage.

Playing my other toon, Chalyce, ages ago, I was level 4 I think and ventured into the Goblin Fortress with Calor Valdoran and Ken Thoss' alt half-Orc whose name escapes me... anyways, my connection dropped while we were fighting one of the boss. Naturally, when I logged back in, I was alone in the Fortress and had to fight my vastly outgunned way out. Through a string of lucky 20's on my part and misses on the enemies, I beat down pretty much everyone in the actual fortress, but when I stepped outside, I started to get pelted by a lot of projectiles that I couldn't stop. I escaped with like, 3 HP and then my constitution buffed disappeared, putting me at -9 in the Bramble Wood, where I then died.

This would fall under hilariously close to disaster.

My character Rhue and Yma's Mortimer were exploring a particular tower in the UD. There is in this particular tower a particular mob. To get by it, I'd summoned a badger to distract it and we'd both cast invisibility on ourselves.

We passed into the top room where we came before a serious meeting of VERY nefarious villains. Our hearts stopped, then we remembered- we were invisible. But we forgot about the badger. Before I could unsummon, it had scampered valiantly right into the middle of all of them (there were drow, and this was in the auto hostile days). The last thing I saw before, naturally, getting the hell out of there, was this brave badger laying into one of the flabbergasted characters.

Why should the great bell of Beaulieu toll when the shadows were neither short nor long?

LOL confused drow and it would of been perfect if you yell as you run away something like:

You have the thanks of a grateful server conglomeration of nations... Thanks!
