Oskarr's Shelving Kudos

Hurrah! Next week I start a new job, which will take much time and energy. The downside is that there is little room for Arelith in all of that.
Over the next few days, I’ll be trying to wrap up some final loose ends but then, Oskarr is being shelved. I would’ve rolled him, but there is just some really big beats I still want to explore – so I guess, whenever I have the time in many months from now, the cheery Tyrran will return.
I started playing him in April-ish of this year, and he’s largely been a blast. Thank you to all those who took the time to answer his questions – whether they were innocent, or a part of his many investigations.
Oskarr was a premise of 3 ingredients – two old legendary Arelithians (Shaalira the Younger + Nautilus) + a little bit of childish humour and innocence. (The joke is that he should’ve been a hin). Hopefully that paid off in the end. I immensely enjoy the investigative approach to roleplay, and honestly, it was people giving him the time of day that really kicked things off, so let’s get going –
Old Friends:
Tilly
Tyne
Jana
Candice
Sigvaldr
Aurlyn
Garrett Kelson
Alina Muk
Anakhsun
Thicket
Ciaran Grady
John
Isabella Isherwood
Reinhart Gelt
Cyllin Skaev
Kylar Huxley
Tahlal Baequirretyn
Tristan Wilkinson
Itzal
All of these characters, through varying degrees of friendship, have been central forces in Oskarr’s narrative, whether it meant exploring new facets of character, posing challenges, creating new emotional connections, or just being there.
The Unresolved:
Theodora Felmir
Bron Mannard
Wren
Sylvia Naern
Leandre
These are those that I wish Oskarr had more time with, but, perhaps unbeknownst to them, made a huge splash in the direction and development of his story. Short, but sweet.
The Dads:
Vance Gravelle
Richard Kaidaris
Derristan Barley
Orestes Fonte Bella
These characters, perhaps more than others, picked up on Oskarr’s unspoken need for an authority figure – to be a new “Father Yakov.” Each were cheeky about it in their own way, but all resulted in powerful moments even if they seemed so ordinary.
The Enemies Barely Met or Unmet:
Sojourner
Pontiff
Void Cult Others
Nick Aethur
Von Brandts
Penthos
Tarrick
Aellowyn
Lavok Xun’virr
The Black Host
Those pesky goblins
Lora Gallenson
Garinox Isley
Akorae
Drossaico
Ilphaeryl Xun’virr
Each of these faces or groups has created a bucketload of roleplay for me – with minimal or absolutely zero interaction with Oskarr. It’s a sign of real antagonism, and the above should be applauded for being deep wells of roleplay.
Neither friend nor enemy but something fascinating:
Emma Young
Denny Walvish
Buppi
Elspeth Derlson
Ari-Satiah
Solveig
The Fellowship
All of the above have done incredible things in their own right, but more importantly, have been driving forces in Oskarr’s roleplay and he wouldn’t be the same without each of them. Even if all of their relationships were weird, brief, or oppositional. Sometimes a 5 minute conversation can spark a month of roleplay.
The Recent:
Karathas
Keth’ym Evanara
Shandalar
Pinlyn
Giscard de Soleil
Mackenzie Graves
The most exciting thing about Arelith is that you never know who you will meet next, and what is going to be in store. These are folks who’ve I had the pleasure of recent encounters with, and have a tinge of sadness knowing that Oskarr's departure is something of a premature end.
